I Have to Wonder

I have to wonder when I

See your crystal blue eyes hold on to mine,

Your lingering gaze clinging to my face

As the flush on my cheeks,

Slipping away only reluctantly.

I have to wonder when my

Eyes are locked on yours

If you feel as I do,

Breathless, spinning,

Like the whole world has fallen on its side

Or if you're just looking,

Not really seeing.

I wish I could stare

All day, all night

Memorizing the curve of your eyebrows,

Your eyes, your nose,

Tracing your angel's lips.

I wish I could lose myself in your gaze,

But I have to wonder

If you'd see me just the same,

Or if you'd see me wrong and shy away.

I have to wonder -

Would you stay?
