I know now, I am perfectly sane
For both my mother, and hers before
Have spoken that these lurking shadows
Are indeed quite real and true.
How can I ignore such knowledge
When it be spoken in the mother's tongue?
English, nay, though it be a useful tool, I mean
The tongue of whispers and lessons to learn.
And so I have learned of these demons
Fragments, and stolen moments to study
The mysteries they leave in their wake,
And here wake takes another meaning,
For they who infest my mind do not sleep
Ever rising, once again.
