Maya pov-

Okay, maybe this dance wasn't so bad. I mean, I was totally killing it on the dance floor with some of my best moves. Maya originals by the way.

After about fifteen minutes of me channeling my dance god, I decided to recharge by the food table. I would have gone to prom last year if I knew how much food there was. Cupcakes, cookies, tarts, and pies littered the snack table along with mini hotdogs and chicken nuggets.

As I stuffed food into a plastic bag to take home, I felt someone's arm snake around my waste.

I guess in a normal story, the arm would end up belonging to some popular sleaze bag at the school who never gave a nickel as to who that girl was until he saw her true beauty. He would try and get her number or something and then the heroine's jealous, soon to be boyfriend would come in to save the day.

Sadly for him, I don't like being touched. Before he could even utter some cheesy pickup line I socked him right in the nose. The poor guy went running and crying, looking like a big baby.

After of a few seconds of starring, gasping, and uploading a video to social media everyone went back to doing what they were before. All except for Connor.

"You can't just act like a normal girl and smack him? Must you act like a pregnant she bear and break his nose? You look so pretty, why can't you act like it?" He scolded.

"Let me give you a peace of advice Connor." I began as I shoved a cupcake in my mouth.

"No normal girl would just slap someone in order to defend themselves." I lectured.

"Slapping is a more of a warning, or a sign that you hurt their feelings. It's mainly just to be polite. Now, if they really slap you. That will hurt, and it can't be called a measly slap. If you really see a girl wind her arm back with a look of death, you should run." I continued.

"I hope you will never have to witness the true power of the palm of a girls hand." I whispered. With a dark glint in my eye.

"You would rather be socked in the nose like poor Mr. Sleezebag."

I walked away from him, not even bothering to look at his shocked expression. Hopefully that will teach him not to openly flirt with a girl again.

"Maya!" Someone yelled. A girl who I had seen around the school a couple of times was now in front of me.

"Hmm?" I answered, a little distracted as I looked for a place to hide my bad of food.

"Could you come with me real quick." She asked, and before I could answer she was pulling me to the center of he dance floor by the wrist.

"Wha-" I began trying to reach for my bag that I had dropped in surprise.

Before I could do anything all of the lights were on me, and a crowd had now gathered into a circle, caging me in. The lights dimmed and a soft melody began to play. I had a bad feeling about this.

As I looked around for the culprit in charge of this strange situation a few squeals began to erupt from the crowd.  Joshua, dressed in his nice tux, emerged from the crowd and he was staring right at me. Normally I would not mind his puppy like eyes, staring at me like I was a Queen. However, when he was holding a mic, the puppy changed into a Lion.

His voice entranced the entire crowd, coaxing us into a dreamlike state. I didn't pay attention to the words, I just watched as he slowly made his way towards me, his honey like voice filling the room. No wonder he was so famous. It was as if the boy was a Magician.

My mind was puddy as he took my hand, and brought it to his lips. I couldn't quite bring my conscious back to the real world, and it was as if my muscles were frozen. Josh was now inches away from me, he put his hand on my back, the song winding down. It was only then as the last note was playing that I realized what was happening.

Josh's eyes were closed, and the mic was no longer by his lips. I could feel his soft, yet staggered breath as he leaned closer. My eyes widened as I realized what would come in only seconds. I didn't know how to feel. My face was now crimson and my heart was fluttering.

"STOP" Somebody wailed.

Immediately I jolted back. Joshua looked around confused and pouting.

"Hey, who ruined my soon to be wife's and I's romantic kiss." Joshua complained. The crowd began to shift leaving Daniel, his face as read as his hair, standing as stiff as a statue.

"Well, you see..." He began.

"PDA! PDA you know, is not allowed. Just trying to follow the rules you see, uhh.." His voice was shaking, as he continues to trip over his words.

I looked between the two and realized that this was my chance to escape. Before Josh could retort I flew out of the room, and into the girl's restroom.

The tile wall was cold on my bare back as I leaned against it for support. Slowly I began to breathe again, my hand on my heart.

'What was that?' I thought to myself.

'Since when was the little twerp so, so..' I stomped my foot in aggravation. Never before had Maya Watson been so helpless.

Who knew that hiding inside those puppy like eyes was a lion.

I've finally UPDATED! YAY! Yeah, it's been a while, but I will hopefully be updating pretty quickly as summer begins. (I make no promises.) Hope you enjoy! Bye, bye ya'll.
