Chapter 162

Skylar POV

We just finished eating lunch when my phone buzzed.

wanna keep her safe?  Join me and she will be.

I looked around and saw Victoria walking out of the restaurant we were in. No. A doesn't mean Victoria right? keep who safe?

After a few seconds it buzzed again,

The girl you truly love.

I shut my eyes, no. It's a terrible idea! I can't be A...No way. I sent back and it buzzed again.

You're call.

I frowned, that's it? I heard a screech of tires and when I walked outside I saw a car speeding down the road and Victoria crossing the road to meet up with everyone. I widened my eyes when I saw the car wasn't stopping. "VICTORIA LOOK OUT!" I screamed and sprinted as fast as I could. She saw the car and screamed but I tackled her onto the grass, away from the car. It screeched and floored it down the road. Victoria breathed violently and I put my head on her chest, my heart thumping like crazy.

When I looked at her she was staring at me. I wanted to kiss her so badly right there but...everyone was here. So instead I just pulled her up gently and helped her stand, for her body was violently shaking in fear and shock. "T-thank you."

"It was nothing," I said, walking towards Karma but she grabbed my hand, making me feel electricity surge through my body. I looked back at her and her eyes were filled with the most sincerity and she smiled softly, "you saved my life...it is something. Thank you," I smiled back at her and then frowned, looking at our clasped hands and I played with her fingers in my own, "you know I'd do anything for you..." She smiled and I hugged her, feeling her put her head on my shoulder. I would do anything for you Victoria Estella.

She pulled away and kissed my cheek, walking with everyone and I took my phone out, going to my messages.

I'm in.

I walked towards them but it buzzed again,

Thought you might say so. Welcome. You're officially A.

I bit the inside of my cheek, feeling gut wrenching bile rise in my throat. You're officially A. That sentence made my stomach churn with disgust...with myself. I'm A...if anyone finds out, I will never be forgiven. But it's for Victoria. A didn't hesitate with that car. She could've died. And I could help her. If being A keeps her alive then being A is what I will do.

Emily POV

Alison was playing with my hands in the waiting room and I smiled, "relax Princess. I am sure everything will work out. We get her the implants and she'll be okay."

She nodded and the doctor called Olivia's name so Elijah, Victoria, Olivia, Ali and I walked to the room he led us to. "So her health is all very good. We just need to schedule a surgery date. The surgery will take about 3 to 4 hours and during the operation, a small incision is made behind the ear and the receiver stimulator, or the internal device is placed under the skin and would be secured to Olivia's skull. A small opening will then be made in the mastoid bone, followed by a tiny hole in the cochlea where the electrode array is going to be inserted into the cochlea." He showed us on Olivia's head, pointing to the places, and then to a diagram on the wall. I nodded and Alison said, "and will she feel any pain during this? I don't want her to be in pain."

I chuckled and patted her hand. "No Mrs. Fields. We will have her on Anesthesia during the surgery. There is nothing to worry about, we have some of the best surgeons around and your daughter will be perfectly fine."

She nodded and said, "how long would her recovery period be?"

The doctor nodded and looked at Olivia, smiling and said, "Children usually bounce back from implant surgery very quickly. Typically, it is recommended that children stay out of daycare and school for the week following the surgery to allow the incision site to begin healing. They usually return to school after the one week, but, physical activity should be limited for at least 3 weeks."

I nodded and Victoria was smiling, "so she'll be able to hear?"

"Hopefully yes. Sometimes the implants don't work very well but most of the time it will enable the patient to hear, yes."

I grinned and Alison did too. Olivia looked at us with a wide grin and I said, "what about in 2 day? Christmas Eve? Is that okay?"

He looked at his clipboard and then a calendar schedule, "can you come in at let's say...10 AM?"

"Yes, that'd be perfect." Elijah said with an excited tone. I chuckled and he smiled, "alright. Nice meeting you all. We'll see you in 2 days. Happy holidays." He led us out and we thanked him and bid our goodbyes. "Well. I think today is a good day for the Fields clan don't you think?" I said, putting my arm around Alison's shoulder and kissed her cheek. She smiled and looked into my eyes, "very good." She pecked my lips sweetly, making my heart melt and she walked to our car with her hand laced with my hand dangling over her shoulder.

Skylar POV

I looked out my window at Victoria in her bedroom, glasses on and reading a book. "I don't want to do this."

"You do if you want her alive." The computerized voice sunk into my souls and I realized that soon I would be using that voice.

"You're going to need everything in here." A threw a box on my bed and I picked it up, shutting my shades behind me and opened it, seeing a disposable phone, black jeans, boots, what I am guessing is the voice changer, a black ski mask...and a black hoodie. I lifted it up and A said, "put it on."

I put the hoodie on and looked at myself in the mirror, disgusted with myself.

A appeared behind me and said, "welcome to the team."
