alison pov

"w-why?" i asked shakily.

she shrugged, "i've always been interested in what my dad does and i just...i don't know i want to help our country."

i looked away from her as a tear rolled down my cheek.

"alison." emily whispered.

i closed my eyes.

"alison please say something." she pleaded.

"what do you expect me to say emily? go for it? have fun?" i said sarcastically as i turned my face to her.

she sighed, "i don't expect you to understand alison i just wanted to tell you." she said and looked down.

she sniffled and i saw a tear drip onto her lap.

i sighed and looked up at the moon.

don't fight about this alison. it's almost christmas.

but she wants to go into a war and fight! that's crazy!

"that's crazy emily. you could die out there..." i said, scared of imagining my life without emily.

she looked at me now, her now red, teary eyes shimmering.

"i won't die alison. i will always find my way home to you. i love you so much alison."

i gulped, "when...would you go?"

she shrugged, "after graduation probably."

i laughed unhumorously, "perfect. so we can't go to college together?"

she  looked at me sincerely, "i would always call you alison as much as i could i just...i want to be like my dad. he's so strong, confident and happy. i want to do that. he protects our home alison. i want to do that."

"what about me huh? i need protection emily. i don't want to live without you." i said painfully as tears cascaded down my cheeks.

she wiped them and grabbed my hands, "you won't have to alison! i won't leave you i promise...if i do go into the army i will get plenty of training over the summer and i will be ready to head out. babe i promise you i won't get hurt. i love you alison. if you go to stanford like you have always dreamed. i could get stationed in the base near there and i could always come and visit you i promise babe. and when i get sent out i will come home and kiss you and twirl you around. i promise." she said genuinly.

i smiled at her, "really?"

"really babe. i will never leave you alone. ever."

"alison! emily where are you guys?" aria shouted.

"we'll be right there!" i yelled.

i looked back at emily.

"emily. going into the army is a huge decision and you need to think about what is best for you." i said seriously.

"no i know. i will. it's not definite yet but...i don't know. i'll think about it okay?"

i sighed and nodded, "let's head back." emily said and stood up.

she took my hand and pulled me to my feet.

"hey. stop okay?"

"stop what?" i said and looked at my feet.

"freaking out. stop worrying. everything will be alright babe. i won't make any final decision without you first i promise." she said and rubbed my arm.

i looked at her, "really?"

she chuckled, "really. now let's go okay? we should get back."

i smiled and nodded, "okay. let's go." i said and we walked back up to the house.
