Charles's POV

"Prince Charles! Please stop!" My butler, Derek, yelled after me while running to catch up. I sighed in discontent when I slowed my pace to that of which allowed Derek to get near; then sped up again. "My Prince, please!" Derek begged. I gave a slight groan before coming to a stop completely. Derek came up next to me while huffing and puffing to try and get his breath back. I didn't look in his direction; just stared straight ahead. While staring straight ahead, my gaze traveled to the polished, white marble fountain in the center of the courtyard of the palace. I took in my features. My long, lean legs, broad shoulders, blinding blonde hair, and hazel eyes tinted red. I turned my attention to Derek when he squared his shoulders in an effort to look dignified, which he failed terribly, and spoke, "My Prince, you cannot just run out of King Richard's office like that!"

I immediately spun on him, gripping him by his collar in the process. I growled lowly at him through clenched teeth, "Let's get some things straight here. Number one- I did not run out of my father's office, number two- He had no right to call me during my meeting, and number three-...I AM NOT MARRYING SOME PEACOCK PRINCESS. DO YOU KNOW HOW HUMILIATING THAT IS?" I can't believe he has the audacity to agree with my father, but Father is the king. Marrying a half peacock, worse a half peacock princess, means you are just begging to be criticized. They are at bloody war with us for crying out loud, and my father wants his only son, next in line for the throne, to marry the enemy!

Derek dropped his gaze, muttering, "Ye-yes, Prince Charles." I turned around and proceeded to storm off, but I heard my mother's voice carried through an open window. I crept closer, trying to hear what was being said.

"You can't marry my son off t-to some peacock!" My mother screeched. I was immediately happy.

"At least someone is fighting for me!" I thought with hope that she will stop all of this nonsense.

I then heard my father speaking and it darkened my mood dramatically with every word, "Love, Charles needs to settle down anyways. Why not have it bring peace between England and Peacia? After all, I heard that they have their half peacock forms and their human forms. You always said you would like to see their half forms without it being all bloody from fighting and see the difference in their forms."

"I will let him meet her, but if I don't like her, the deal is off!" My mother declared, apparently her want to see what one of them looks like in their half forms too much. I was outraged by her betrayal. I immediately bulldozed through everything in my path to get to my room. Once I was inside, I collapsed on my bed while closing my eyes. I could feel a headache coming on from all of this drama. "If Mother won't do anything about it if she likes the princess, then I'll make Mother despise her," I though with malice. Little did I know how hard that would be.
