"You want me to marry him!" I screamed, not caring about how un-ladylike I was acting.
My parents sat there frozen as if not expecting my outburst of defiance. My mother tried to reason with me, "Phonix, you need to marry him for your kingdom. You...

Well on with the story!! ____________________________
Charles's POV
When I arrived home at around eleven at night, the mansion was eerily silent. I quickly mounted the steps of the grand staircase two at a time as soundlessly as I could. I made it to the landing without a single step creaking to my credit. I felt proud of myself, but they was shattered when I heard a distinct "humph" from right behind me. I spun around, holding a hand above my pounding heart. Then, before my very eyes, I saw the most beautiful creature I had ever seen. She was lean, had a nice body, gorgeous raven hair, pink tinted cheeks, and wine red lips. I snapped my mouth closed when I realized I had been gawking and checking her out at the same time.
"Are you Charles?" The woman asked me; unfazed by my embarrassing behavior.
I straightened up, replying, "Yes, and you are?"
She looked me dead in the eye. "Your fiancé apparently," was all she said with such a lack of enthusiasm I thought that she might not want to marry me.
I shook the thought away before stating coldly, "So, your the half-peacock princess. I expected a more....colorful look." The princess then walked up to me, and slapped me right across the cheek. I gazed at her in first complete, utter shock; that then warped into uncontained fury. I did my best not to yell when I spoke, "What was that for?"
She looked at me in disgust before replying, "Speaking of my other form that way when it is quite lovely. Also for insulting my family and me when you decided not to grace us with your appearance, but now that I think about it, we didn't miss much." With those words she turned and stride away. I felt anger bubble up from deep inside me, and the next thing I knew, I was going after her. I knew better than to grab her in any fashion, so I ran in front of her in order to block off her means of escape.

Phoenix's POV
I just felt irrational at this point. This man insults me twice, then has the nerve to cut me off where I was clearly walking. "What did I ever do to deserve him as a fiancé?" I asked myself bitterly. I crossed my arms while tapping my foot on the polished marble floors. "May I help you?" I asked Charles through gritted teeth. Charles was a handsome man, but beauty comes from within and he just doesn't have it. He may have a jaw that could cut ice, eyes just as hard, and teeth the color of snow, but that doesn't mean anything! I then realized I was glorifying him, and I was immediately horrified of my thoughts.
This was the time Charles chose to reply, "You had no right to slap me. I want an apology or I'm calling this- this engagement off!" I laughed.
"If that is all it took to get out of marrying you, I would of done it a long time ago!" I felt almost giddy that he might call it off. He looked at me as if I was crazy, so I simply asked, "What's wrong?"
Charles stated, "You don't want to marry me. If it was any other girl, they would of already thrown themselves at me."
I scoffed, "How arrogant can one man be?"
As if realizing what he has said, Charles quickly added, "I do not mean to sound big-headed, but it is the truth since I am next in line for the crown." I pursed my lips into a thin line. Charles sighed before looking out a nearby window at the grounds of the mansion.
We stayed in an awkward silence for around three minutes before I broke the silence by saying, "You don't want to marry me, correct?" I paused waiting for him to respond to which he nodded, "I don't want to marry you. So how about we make a plan together in order to get out of this arrangement?"
Charles stared at me, then replied, "Let's do it. We can meet up tomorrow sometime to begin our master plan." He sounded very devious when he spoke, that I let out a faint chuckle.
I gave him a smile, a real one, and said, "Well, we should go to our chambers for the night." He nodded his head in agreement. With that we both told the other good night and went out separate ways. Little did we know of the three different people listening in from the shadows who had seen our entire ordeal.
