NOW ON WITH THE CHAPTER!

Phoenix's POV

My stomach flipped every time our buffed up limo hit a bump out of nervousness. I was in my human form since my family and I are meeting my "fiancé" today; something I wish I could forget. He was probably going to be a spoiled, rich brat who always gets what he wants. We hit another bump, and I had to take deep breaths to keep my breakfast down. My parents and sister were coming with me to meet him, but Nyla was barely even looking at me. I don't know why either. I'm starting to get the feeling that she is hiding something.

I shook it off as we entered London. We rode though the giant city until we had completely passed through it. Now we were in the countryside. The royal family had arranged the meeting at their vacation palace apparently; not wanting everyone to know about the marriage yet.

The limousine finally arrived at our destination. The chauffeur got out, walked to my side of the car, and opened the door for me. I smiled at him in thanks as I stepped out to get s better view of their mansion. It was made out of gray multi-colored stone, had four stories I'm assuming by its size, and maybe fifty rooms. "It is really nice for a vacation home," I thought while taking it in.

I was drawn out of my thoughts when I heard a man's voice saying, "Welcome to my humble home. Please, make yourselves comfortable."

My father gave him a tense smile before saying, "Thank you. It a pleasure to meet you and I'm sure my family thinks so as well." Both men smiled at each other; then the man who greeted us, who I am assuming is the king of England, gestures for us to follow him inside. The king walked inside with us in tow. I marveled at the interior since it was very un-country like. The outside has made me believe the interior would match, but boy was I wrong.

There was a magnificent staircase that went up all four stories with landings in between so you could get off at your desired floor. The floor was a plush, thick carpet that just oozed money. The walls were a creamy white with portraits hanging here and there. The furniture was, of course, the best that money could buy. The couches were made out of silk, and the curtains on the big, open windows were as well.

I saw the that a woman has joined as little gathering by now. "She must be the queen," I believed. She scanned her eyes over my family, then flickered them back and forth between Nyla and me. The queen's eyes rested on me. I gave her a polite smile which she returned. She then clapped her hands to get everyone's attention.

The queen then proclaimed, "You all must be hungry. Shall we take ourselves to the dining room?" Without waiting for our reply, she strode to the said dining room. My family and I were left with no choice but to follow. I noticed that the king stayed behind talking to a servant. I turned my head and continued to follow the queen, but what bothered me was that the friendly king had a deep frown etched onto his features.

The dining room was simple enough. There was a crystal chandelier hanging above the long dining table, a red silk tablecloth, fine china and silver silverware on it, and hard wood floors made of the best oak. The queen sat down at the right hand side of the table; she then turned to look for her husband. He came in just before it could get awkward. The king sat down at the head while my father sat down at the opposite head. My mother sat to his right while I sat to my father's left. Nyla sat to my left.

I looked around, wondering, "Where is my "supposed" fiancé?"

The queen must of been wondering the same thing because she then asked the king, "Dear, where is Charles?"

I visibly saw the king stiffen before he replied, "He is at the other house on the property with James." The queen let out a slight sigh before asking to be excused to call Charles.

"He sure is great with first impressions," I thought sarcastically. The queen came back in, reassuring us that Charles was only a minute away. We all sat there in an uncomfortable silence until there was a loud banging of the dining room doors. I saw a man in his twenties strut in, and, much to my dismay, he gave me an energetic grin. I almost gagged, but held it back when he winked at me. I wished to myself,    "Please don't let this man be Charles." I got my wish.

"James, where is Charles?" The king asked, irritated.

The man who was thankfully James gave a little shrug before replying, "Beats me. All he said was he was going out for drinks and skipping this dinner." I'm pretty sure every single person's jaw in that room dropped. I was doing my best not to cheer, but then I realized how he has just disrespected me, making my blood boil. The king whirred around to the man I had seen him talking to earlier.

"Go get Charles now!" The king's voice boomed, hurting my ears. I watched as the man said a quick "yes my king" then scurried off to who knows where. I sat ram rod straight in my seat, knowing that I was at least making a good impression, and if I wasn't, these people's expectations are just too high. I watched James take a seat next to the king.

Then he said something quite unbelievable, "Might as well go ahead and eat. Charles isn't going to come back until he is positive the dinner is over." The king sighed. He motioned for the servers to, well, serve the food.

I began on our first course, thinking, "Charles is in for it when I see him. The cold shoulder ought to work."
