Then, I saw his eyes widen. He convulsed on the bed, but suddenly went still.
"Percy?" I said quietly, afraid.
No answer.
"Percy!"
I quickly felt for a pulse. He didn't have one. Percy Jackson's heart had stopped.
Annabeth POV
"Will! Anyone, help! Please, Will!"
"Annabeth, what's... Oh my gods, cardiac arrest?"
How had he gotten here so fast?
"Chiron sends me to check on you every night." He took out his medical bag and pulled out a defibrillator.
"You carry around a defibrillator? Do you really think this will work?"
"Yes and yes."
He pulled up Percy's shirt, exposing his chest. He rubbed the paddles together and put them on Percy's chest, slightly apart. His body jolted upward, then went still.
"Why isn't it working?" I cried hysterically.
"I'm doing all I can, Annabeth! I'm gonna try again."
He did it again, and Percy jolted so violently that I started to cry. He didn't stir at all.
"Percy! Come on, you've beaten so many monsters, you can't die now. You beat Kronos, Percy!" I cried. He had been through so much that a heart attack, a heart attack, could not be the thing to kill him.
Will tried once more, muttering a prayer to his father. Percy's body jolted and was still again. Will looked at me and shook his head. I sunk to the floor, overcome. I had always hoped that I would die before Percy or that we would die together in battle. He had become such a part of me that-
He gasped, sitting up.
"Percy! You're alive!" I grabbed him and he gasped more, pushing me away.
"Oh my gods Percy, I'm so sorry. I wasn't thinking." He managed a weak smile. Then he collapsed in a fit of coughing.
Will went to take a closer look, taking Percy's temperature, checking his heart rate, and listening to his breathing.
"Are you okay, Percy?" That seemed like a pointless question, but Percy answered anyways.
"I feel just peachy. Could run a marathon. What do you think Will? I'm not a complete idiot. I just died. I saw Charon. I am not okay."
"Okay, you are staying in bed all day to rest." Percy started to protest, but Will cut him off. "You just said you weren't okay and you just died. You are staying here for at least the next day."
"Okay, okay, but can Annabeth stay? "
"Well... Okay." Will said after Percy turned those big green eyes on him.
Will left.
"Percy, I've got to watch you a little more carefully. Don't go anywhere without someone, whether it be a demigod or Blackjack." I told him, well told, I really commanded.
"But Ann, you sound like my mom," he whined.
"Be serious, Percy! What if you have another heart attack? If you won't agree to it, I'll make your mom force you to."
"Okay."
A/N) Also, I know that Percy Jackson had never previously had any heart problems before. I researched heart attacks(yeah I know, I'm a nerd even on Wattpad) and it said that people could get them when they are stressed or when doing relaxing activities. So yeah.
Also, will someone comment? I don't want to sound desperate, but I kind of am, so yeah.
P.S.
I know I'm saying also and so yeah a lot. Sorry.
