Chapter ten

Chapter ten: the bloodbath

The gong sounds and I sprint in, I pick up the knife jacket and put it on. I then start rummaging through a random backpack whilst constantly looking around, I don't find anything good so I abandon the pack and grab some extra knives. I look around the place and then I see it, Katniss and the boy who I think is from district nine are fighting over the backpack that I found useless. I pick a random knife and throw it at the nine boy he falls to the ground, coughing up blood. Katniss turns around and sees me, she looks horrified and starts to run, I throw a knife at her but she holds up the pack and catches it in it. What!? How's that fair? She has a knife that I got from the cornucopia! Oh well, I have enough knives to last me a lifetime in the games.

Marvel and Glimmer are chopping up some random people and Cato's killing the district four boy so I take a couple of backpacks and put them on my back. I run into the middle of the cornucopia where Cato's standing staring at the swords, I walk past him and take some more knives and he takes the sword. I look down at the dead boy from district four, he has two slits down his throat. Marvel, Glimmer and the girl from four come over and Glimmer asks "Where should we go?" As Cato's the male tribute with the highest score, he's the pack leader so it's his choice. "Let's go that way," he says, gesturing to the woods, "I think I saw someone over there."

We walk over and Cato's right, someone is there. "Oh look, there's loverboy." Glimmer shouts. We run over Cato's just about to kill him but he says "Wait, I can show you to her."

"We should keep him," the girl from four says, "He might be useful."

"Fine, but one wrong move and he's dead." I never realised how brutal Cato was. I pass him a tiny, pathetic knife and say "I doubt you can kill with this but keep it just in case."

"She went this way." Loverboy says, pointing in the exact opposite direction to where I saw Katniss go.
