Peaceful Tides

"Oh my gosh, did you pack your whole house into this tiny little suitcase?" Josh asked as he lugged it out of my truck and into his house. I shrugged, and smiled. I was living with my mate! I felt so happy I wanted to howl. But I didn't. Josh could, though. I shook my head. I was weird. I can't believe I believed that he was a werewolf, but seeing is believing, I guess. I walked up the stairs, to the room next to his. 

I took a peek into his room as I walked by. He was in his room changing. I stopped to stare. Man, he was hot. I saw his defined muscles flex as he pulled his shirt off. He reached down, giving me a nice view of his behind. I stopped staring and blushed as he said,

"You know, it's not nice to stare. But for you, its okay." He turned around with a smirk on his face, and came over to me. He gently grabbed my face and planted a kiss on my cheek. I felt my face grow hotter.

"If you wanted to see me without a shirt on, all you had to do was ask." He said cockily. I smiled at him and slapped his...very hard chest. I turned and walked into my bedroom.

I sighed. I still couldn't believe I would be living with Josh. Well, it took me a while to get over the shock of him being, you know...a werewolf. I still was a little shy about the idea, but I couldn't deny what I saw with my own eyes.

"Sam, come down here!" I heard Josh shout. I groaned and dumped my suitcases on the floor.

"What?" I asked as I got downstairs.

"Phone. It's your parents." He said, and I swallowed.

"What do I say?" I asked him worriedly. He kissed my forehead.

"Don't worry, you'll be fine. Just say your staying at a friend's house for now." I nodded, took a deep breath, and picked up the phone.

"Hello?" I said into the phone.

"Hey honey, me and your dad was just wondering where you were." I closed my eyes.

"Well, I'm staying at a friend's house for a bit. Is that okay?" I said. I held my breath.

"Yeah sure. Is it Josh's house? Are his parents okay with it?" I swung my head around to gaze at Josh's family. They smiled, no doubt hearing what they were saying.

"Yeah, they're okay with it."

"Okay, well, remember to wear pajamas, and brush your teeth, and take showers daily. Do you have protection, because I don't want something to happen..." My mom droned on while I was frozen, as red as a tomato. I glanced to Josh's parents, and they looked like they were about to explode.

I waved my hand at them.

"Go ahead. I know you want to." I sighed, and they burst out laughing. I rolled my eyes at them, but then I heard more laughing join in. Josh came down the stairs, and he was laughing too!

"Why are you laughing?" I stomped my foot.

"I heard it. It was just too funny." I growled at him, and his face clouded up. He came over to me and brought his mouth crashing against mine. I melted into the kiss. It just felt so natural.

I heard a cough, and we pulled apart. Josh grinning, me blushing. His parents were smiling.

"This won't be a problem, will it?" They joked. I shook my head furiously, and they laughed again.

I forgot my mom was on the phone, still in my hand, until I heard her speak.

"Did you get all of that?" She said, and I almost laughed. She didn't hear anything!

"Yeah I did mom. Nice talking to you, and say hi to dad for me." I hung up.

I headed up to my room, and flopped down on the bed, taking a nap.

I woke up, feeling a stirring beside me. I looked over to my right to see the Josh had come over and laid down beside me, curling into my side. I smiled, and brushed a couple strands of hair away from his face. He's so peaceful. When he's asleep. I chuckled. He groaned, and opened one eye.

"Hello, sleepyhead. Have a good night?" He asked and I nodded, smiling. He reached up and touched my cheek.

"You're so beautiful. I'm happy you're with me." I smiled at him, and we hugged.

"Okay, so what time is it?" I asked. I looked over to the clock, and I started, seeing that is was half past seven.

"Wow, I guess I was asleep for a while," I muttered.

"Come on, let's go outside." Josh said, pulling me up from the bed. I frowned, puzzled. Why are we going outside?

"Why are we going outside?" I asked him. He looked back at me, smiling.

"We're going for a run." He turned around. I frowned.

I didn't like the sound of that.

"I don't think this is such a good idea...AHHH!" I shrieked as we rushed past trees and animals. I was clutching a handful of fur in one hand and my other was raised to ward off the branches that were hanging low enough to slap me in the face on our way past.

"Don't worry, I won't let you fall, or get hurt." A thought entered my mind, and I flinched, wondering what that was.

"Sam?" it did it again! I cocked my head to the side.

"Hello?" I tentatively reached out with my thoughts, and came into contact with something.

"Hi. it's Josh. I'm mindspeaking to you. Can you hear me?" He asked.

"Yes?" I made it sound more like a question, and he laughed. A deep rumbling laugh that made me shake on his back.

"it's okay, I know I probably scared you the first time I spoke to your mind. I can only do this when I'm a wolf, since you aren't one, and only I can initiate it, so you couldn't speak to me unless I speak to you first. If you were a wolf, then you could hear me any time. Every wolf can do it with their mate." He explained, and I relaxed. I suddenly realised we weren't moving, and I looked around.

We were in the middle of a beautiful meadow,with flowers and everything.

"Did you find this place?" I gasped, taking in all the beauty around me.

"Yeah, I found it when I was on a hunt." He shrugged his shoulders, and I almost fell off. He sounded a bit...confused?

"I want to get down." I stated, and he knelt down to let me off. I stepped off his back, still in awe. I felt his gaze on me.

"I knew you would like this place. Beautiful, just like you." I turned to him, smiling, but then my eyes widened, and I turned back, blushing furiously. He was naked!

"You could at least warn me when you do that!" I said, still embarrassed. He pressed his, thankfully clothed again, chest against me, and laughed his deep laugh again, making me squirm.

"That tickles when you do that!" I said smiling. He frowned.

"Do what?" He asked.

"When you come up behind me and press your chest against my back and laugh. You have a vibrating laugh that makes me tingle...i mean be tickled." I said. He smiled.

"Well, now I know what kind of effect I have on you." He joked, and I slapped him playfully. He pulled me so we fell. I landed on him softly, and we just stared at the sky, him lightly stroking my hair, until it was almost dark.
