Josh's POV
I stood looking over the building, thinking before doing anything rash. I knew she was in there, but I don't know who else is. There's the other Penny, demon, whatever she is, and Carlo. Not to mention his pack. I sighed and stretched. I don't know what it is, but something about this place is giving me the creeps.
Karen walked up to me and handed me a sandwich. I smiled my thanks, unwrapping it quickly and biting into it hungrily.
"Does anything seem...off...to you, about this place? Even after you took down their magical defenses?" I asked, after swallowing. She frowned, before slowly nodding.
"I get to vague sense of danger, but not what it is." I blew out my frustration in a sighed.
"Well, I've been watching for hours, and haven't seen anything, so I'm calling everyone, and we are getting on with this," I told her, and turned to head toward my tent we set up quickly, our makeshift camp standing out in the openness of the field, but luckily not visible from the warehouse.
Right when I turned, twin flashes of silver and brown pulsed in my field of vision. I spun around just in time to see two wolves, I don't know who they are, disappear around one of the buildings in the valley. They didn't threaten us, and I think they were running away, so I didn't say anything. I turned to head to my tent.
I felt a little bit uncomfortable, I had a burning tingly feeling spreading throughout my body. It seemed like it was mostly my throat, my arm, and my stomach. Then it disappeared. I started walking.
But after I took a few steps, I felt a burning pain in my gut. My arm burned, too. I cried out and fell to the ground, convulsing. I could hear Karen, far away, asking if I was okay. My only thought was, "Sam's in trouble! They're doing something to her, we need to save her!" I groaned and crept up to my knees, holding my stomach, which felt like it was being ripped out. What are they up to?
They know, since we're connected, we share everything. Even pain.
I need to get to her. I staggered to my tent, to round up everyone.
Sam's POV
I glared at Carlo when he came back into the room, but he didn't seem fazed by my menacing look. Henri followed close behind him, and he was holding...I sneered in disgust. Ropes. Yay, I'm getting tied up again. He was also holding a bag, but I couldn't tell what was in it.
I sighed when Carlo stood in front of me, frustrated because I knew I could beat him, but I can't show him I can.
"Turn around," he growled, and I complied wearily, like last time, sitting down in the chair while they tied their ropes around me, but this time tighter, so tight I couldn't move. I could probably break them still, given time. But I won't.
So I sat there, tied, in a wooden chair that wasn't even remotely comfortable, while they both stood in front of me, arms crossed, smiling creepily. I looked back and forth in between them, before sighing.
"What do you want from me?" I asked, and Henri took the bag he had off his shoulder and set it gently on the floor, unpacking it swiftly.
There were two jars of a milky green liquid that didn't look at all appetizing, followed by a sealed bag of some sort of plant. I got nauseous just looking at it. I wonder what it was.
