Note for all my late night, early morning readers: I didn't proofread this yet, because it's late and I just wanted to get the chapter up, but I hope you enjoy regardless!
After quietly walking back to his room while pondering the swarm of problems in his head, Seamus was happy to see Iris' beautiful face. She sat on his bed with legs under the sheets, and her dainty hands wrapped around a cup of lavender tea. A sweet smile that hid her stress shined at the sight of the man she loved more than life itself. He recognized all the secrets brewing behind those icy blue eyes, and took a seat on the edge of the bed to try and unravel her.
"How are you doing beautiful?" He asked.
She released a trapped breath as she set her tea on the side table. Then, Iris let her stare stay everywhere except for Seamus' eyes. "Yeah, I'll get over it. Just like everything else."
"Get over what, exactly? Get over Aleks? Get over the way he attacked you, or used you, or what?"
Iris' pupils widened at the shock of his sudden curiosity. Why must he dig, just like he used to? It must be the price she has to pay for having a man that cares about her. The truth is she can't complain, because she'd much rather he was overprotective and nosey, versus Immortal who could care less. Immortal; the name shook her to even think about. She pulled her legs up to her chest, and wrapped her cold arms around them as she contemplated even thinking about the devil. "I could smell her perfume on him." She mumbled, to a point she must have hoped he didn't hear it.
"What?" He responded, forcing her eyes to focus on him.
"Hm? Oh nothing, I just want to get over Aleks, and the best way is to not talk about it, please." She asked innocently as she batted her eyelashes that still wet from the earlier tears.
Seamus smiled as he lightly placed a hand on her arm. "I won't, not anymore. I promise." He grinned. "Why don't you go get dolled up so we can go out and I can show you off around town like the old days."
"Sounds like a plan." She replied as she began to get down from the bed.
Iris headed to the bathroom to shower, leaving Seamus in the loneliness that ate away him while the rotten thoughts of Immortal reentered his mind. There was something about today that was different than the past few months. Sure, Immortal had been an asshole since Ashley's defeat, but today he held his head in a different way. Before, it was just a cocky attitude fed by the fact he had landed a vixen of a woman, but now, it's a crooked smile that he dawns. It's almost... evil.
Seamus had to stop himself to make sure he really did think that. There was no way, even on Immortal's lowest days, he wouldn't be evil. He might have been happy to see everyone blame Seamus for the system malfunctions, but he couldn't possibly be the one causing it. There's been plenty of problems in the group before, and none of them resorted to underhanded things like this. That is, they never did when Immortal was just a loner, an outsider, and separate from the group.
While the noise of running water and a silky voice sounded from the bathroom, Seamus couldn't help his blood from boiling as the song that rang from Iris' mouth reminded him what exactly Immortal tried to hurt. It wasn't a simple act of abuse, or manipulation. He hurt something that Seamus cherished more than life, and he will pay for what he's done.
The water shut off, and soon after, Iris walked out of the bathroom with nothing but a towel to cover her curvy, supermodel-like figure. Seamus' mouth dropped to see this stunning woman, making him think that for the time being, he'll let Immortal slip from his mind so he can focus on what matters, and what he fights for.
"I was thinking," He started as he stood. "Maybe we'd be better off staying in tonight."
Iris grinned at his suggestion. "I'd prefer takeout food and cuddling over a fancy meal any day."
