The darkest, deepest blue eyes,
Looking straight into mine; he breathes hard as he slowly dies,
His blood, hot against my shivering skin,
His gaze, so warm, shuts out the ocean’s din,
Penetrating wet tears begin to fall,
As I whisper his name to heed my call,
‘Don’t go, don’t leave me,” I say,
Sand covers his body as death tries to take him away,
I hold him in my arms, close to my heart,
As the water tries to break us apart,
He touches my face with his pale, cold hand,
And says words I could barely understand,
‘I love you’, once words sweet from his lips, but now painfully sad,
Under the moonlit sky, I’ve lost the best thing I’ve ever had.

Poems of the Deep Dark Heart
PoetryThis is a collection of my poems inspired by the novels I've read. Others are inspired by completely different things. Some are sonnets, some are not, some are just out of the blue. © 24CasterXAngel1878, 2008-2012
