Chapter 32

Kendall's POV

I pushed the glass door open, entering a wide, air conditioned room. The cafeteria was half full but most people were now leaving. I guess most of them ate lunch earlier than the rest thinking there would be less people if they were early, but as it came out, they all had the same idea which made it useless. Taylor and I entered the latest, considering there were people who were leaving and the others, half way from finishing their lunches.

I looked over to my left and saw the pick up area, where we would pick our choice of dishes. Taylor was still looking around the cafeteria, clearly flabbergasted by the size of the cafeteria. I gestured for her to come with me to get our lunches. When Taylor noticed, she nodded towards me and we both walked towards the empty pick up area. I took two trays and gave one to Taylor who smiled, thanking me. We both placed our trays on the bars connected to the counter and slid them across while pointing out our food to the cafeteria lady. When we reached the end of the pick up area, our trays were filled with the right amount of food we needed to fill our empty stomach's.

We slid our trays nearer to the cashier. I took out my wallet and fidgeted with it, pulling out the money. When I was about to give the money to the lady behind the cashier, Taylor placed one of her hands on my wrist, preventing me to pay for our lunches.

"No, i'll pay!" Taylor pushed down on my wrist.

"No really Tay, i'll pay." I spoke up, releasing my wrist from her loose grip. "You didn't even need to go to the hospital, you helped me so i'll pay." I continued.

"No, come on i'll pay." Taylor said sticking up her money.

"No."

"Yes."

"Tay, i'll do it." I said nodding towards the cafeteria lady to take the money. But she just looked at me, confused.

"No." Taylor said in a serious manner. "You payed for our coffee and you didn't need to." She continued, pushing my wrist back down, now a little stronger than before.

I finally gave up, deciding that Taylor could do this all day. "Alright alright."

"Finally." Taylor sighed with a grin. "Here miss." Taylor handed her money to the lady with a smile.

"I'll pay next time." I pointed out, squinting my eyes at her and putting up my pinky finger.

"Suit yourself." Taylor grinned wrapping her pinky finger around mine.

We both took our trays and thanked the lady, who gave us a smile and a nod. Taylor walked in front of me leading us towards a table near one of the large glass windows taking up most of the walling space in the cafeteria.

Taylor and I placed our lunch trays on the clean table. As we finally sat, I looked at my tray and realized we forgot to take our utensils. Taylor jolted her head up to look at me, and as if we had spoken telepathically, I nodded towards her and stood up, walking towards a table with a large amount of stocked utensils and tissues. I grabbed us each a spoon and a fork, wrapping the pairs with a tissue.

I walked back towards Taylor and placed the tissue wrapped utensils beside her tray, the same as I did on mine. I sat down and finally gave a sigh.

"God, can we not talk?" Taylor said licking her lips. "Like, while eating?" She continued.

"Yeah I agree." I nodded. "I'm hungry as fuck." I deadpanned.

We both dug in without even once to talking to each other. We had our little pauses, looking at each other while licking our lips, or accidentally burping softly, which sets of a fair amount of giggles from each other. But we ate slowly, careful not to make our stomach's get immediately flushed up with food, or that'll turn out badly.

After a roughly half an hour of eating, we both sipped on our water which was served to us for free in the middle of our eating spree and we wiped our mouths with tissue. Then we both stood up, and walked out of the cafeteria. We then walked towards the elevator and waited for its doors to open.

"Hey, wanna take the stairs instead?" I suggested.

"Yeah." Taylor nodded. "We could even burn down the food we ate." Taylor snickered.

"True." I grinned.

We then turned around and walked towards the stairs. Then we both inhaled deeply and let out a loud sigh and started climbing the staircase towards the third floor.
