They sat on the bench

in the park

in t o t a l s i l e n c e .

"I swear that girl just came up to me-"

"Don't."

He looked at her.

"No Cam--"

"--I told you I liked you and I shouldn't--"

"Cam. Stop.

she broke down

to a million p i e c e s ,

and he was more than glad

to just be there for her

and help her

pick up the pieces.

"I'm sorry.

Maybe if I hadn't gotten so close,

this wouldn't've happened.

I'm so sorry, Faye."

She shook her head vigorously.

"No. Stop. Stop apologizing."

"Okay."

They sat there in the comforting silence,

and little by little,

he
