I smoothed down my dress and looked at my reflection one last time.
I was wearing a floral patterned dress. I knew he hated me wearing too much makeup so I only applied lipstick and brushed my cheeks with a light pink.
I put on my flats, grabbed my purse, and started to walk down the stairs when I heard his voice. He was talking to my dad.
"Uh, I guess..." I heard him say nervously.
"You're saying you're not sure if you're dating my daughter?" my dad said, using his 'intimidating' voice.
"N-no sir, I-I'm not," he stuttered.
"What do you mean by that?"
"It's up to her, if she's ready to be in a relationship, sir."
I walked down the rest of the steps and stood in front of my dad and him.
"You didn't tell me you're going out." My father eyed me skeptically. I fidgeted under his gaze.
"Sorry dad. Can I go?" I smiled at him nervously.
He looked at me suspiciously, then at Cam, before a smile appeared on his face. "Be back before 10."
He gave my father a hand salute. "Yes sir," he said before looping his arm in mine, walking out the door.
"You look beautiful," he whispered in my ear, wrapping his arm around my waist.
"You don't look too bad yourself," I tell him.
He opened the car door for me, which I rolled my eyes to, hiding my blush.
Once he got in the car, he asked me, "Where to, m'lady?"
"Oh, uh..." I say awkwardly. I hadn't thought of that.
"You asked me out but you don't even know where we're going. Tsk tsk, Faye." He shook his head as if disappointed. "Luckily for us, I planned the night for us. You're welcome." We both laughed. He started the car and drove away from my house.
"So where're we going?" I asked him.
"I saw this fancy restaurant downtown," he suggested. "I got us a reservation there, unless you want to eat somewhere else."
"That's fine." I wave my hand dismissively.
"Yeah?" He looked at me with so much love. What did I do to deserve him?
"Yeah. Now eyes on the road- Cam!"
The moment I had pointed out the car zooming in from the left, it was too late; and as metal collided with metal, and glass collided with flesh, I held onto him for dear life, thinking that maybe happy endings only existed in fairytales after all.
