"Where's your mom?" I ask.

"She's at a job interview, but she's hours away..." She says as she wipes her tears.

I realize that I still have my hand on her cheek and I pull away instantly.  Awkwardly.

As I clear my throat, she looks at me with her gorgeous green eyes.

"What?" I ask a little awkward.

"Why did you save me?" She asks in a whisper.

The night came by fast and I couldn't see her face very well. Wasn't sure if she was still looking at me.

"Um, well you called me and it sounded like you were in trouble..." I explained.

"And I got a message from a blocked number that texted me a photo of you tied to this chair with your mouth taped..."

She nods at the end of the explanation.  But I start to ask myself.

"Why me though? Why not Garret or something..."

"I don't know, and besides, me and Garret broke up." And I act surprised.

Even though I already knew.

"Really? Woah, what happened?" I ask curiously.

"I don't want to talk about it..." She says as she rubs her arm uncomfortably.

I just nod.

"Okay, well I think I should go, I-" I began my sentence as I stood up but she interrupted me by grabbing my arm.

I look at her grip and then at her.

"No! Please don't leave me.  I-I don't feel safe alone..." She says with her voice a bit shaky.

"But..." I really want to stay, but I can't.

My dad would be worried sick.  But this is what I've always wanted.  Who knows what going to happen.

"Please?" She begs.

I sigh and look down. She lets go of her grip and I nod.

"Okay..." I say.

A small smile grows in the corner of her mouth, but I could barely see it because of the darkness.

It was pretty late and I wasn't sure if I could stay. She looks down as she sits on her bed. I sit next to her thinkin it's something that it was a good idea, but once a sat, she stared at me...again.

There was an awkward silence between us fora little bit until her phone rang. As she grabbed her phone, I was curious.

"Who is it?" I ask.

But she just ignores me and answers.

"Hello?" She says.

There was a pause.

"Garret I don't want to talk about this right now, I—" but she gets interrupted.

"Oh so it's my fault?! You're the one who—" an she got interrupted again by the yelling through the phone.

Her eyes begin to get watery as she places her palm on her forehead in frustration.

"Garret please, I—"

Poor Lydia.  She keeps getting interrupted.

Then there was silence.

"Hello?" She asks.

No response.

She begins to cry as she throws her phone at the wall and falls on the floor.  Crying harder.

I stand there, not knowing what to do.  I sit next to her on the floor and I slowly place my arm around her back.  I pull her towards me a bit so she can lean on me.

She cries harder as she leans her head on my chest.  I begin to get uncomfortable.  Never done this before.

I hugged her with my other arm and she placed her arm on my shoulder.  My shirt began to get wet with her tears as she digged her face into my shirt.

Just sitting there in the floor.  It's actually them best thing that have ever happened in my life.

I can't believe it but this is actually happening.  Now all I can think of is her.

Lydia Martin.
