I kept the mace firmly gripped in my hand as I stomped over to the stalker. To my surprise, he made no move to walk away. He had actually kept eye contact with me the whole time I was walking.
"Who are you?" I demanded the second I was close enough for him to hear me. My courage was being pushed solely by my anger that had been awoken earlier by Elly.
"Just a friend," he replied with a smirk. The boy was no boy at all, he was tall, lean, and a good ten years older than me. He had dark blonde hair and deep green eyes. His face was pale, which made his eyes pop. Like I had noticed before, he was dressed in all black; black jeans, black boots, and a black hoodie.
"Ok, well that was creepy," I replied, still somewhat stuck in my anger haze from earlier. "Why are you watching me?"
"You seem to be having a hard time since you got home," He said, tilting his head to the side.
"Excuse me?" I asked.
"Well, your sweet little sister doesn't seem to like you, you couldn't even help that poor boy in the woods, and now your car is a mess. I would say that's a hard time." He finished with a laugh.
"How do you know all that?" My anger was quickly being taken over by curiosity and fear. He was definitely watching me, and a lot more than I had even began to imagine.
He grinned down at me, "I've been watching, you and I are going to be close, so I figured I should get to know you."
"Oh please," I huffed, "The only thing you are getting close to is the police, once I report your ass for stalking!"
He threw his head back and began to laugh obnoxiously loud, "I see you are gonna make me do this the hard way, I'm not surprised, you are your mother's daughter. Lucky for you, and me, you're different. Better in fact"
"Alright crazy, why don't you just tell me how I get rid of you?"
"You can't, one way or another you and I are going to be spending some time together. I just hope you come to your senses before it's too late."
"Ok, did you just threaten me?" I screeched.
"Sadie?" A very familiar voice yelled.
I turned my head away from my stalker and saw Jackson walking away from the back of my house and towards me. I couldn't help but enjoy the view, he was so handsome, even though I was mad at him I couldn't deny that.
I turned my head back to find myself alone. The man was gone.
"What are you doing out here?" Jackson asked, scaring the crap out of me.
"How did you get to me so fast?" I squeaked.
"I jogged over," he shrugged, "now what are you doing?"
"I thought I saw something, guess it was just my imagination," I lied. I don't know why I just didn't tell him the truth. Maybe I wasn't lying, maybe I was just so stressed out that my mind made up a creepy stalker dude to talk to.
"The woods aren't safe, you shouldn't be out here alone, let's go back," Jackson said, and after a small moment of hesitation, he grabbed my hand.
As always, I felt the waves throughout my body, but for some reason I enjoyed them. Instead of making me want to throw up, they made me feel warm and safe. I knew it was probably only due to the fact that stalker man had just freaked me out, but I still liked it.
"So, are you still mad at me?" Jackson asked, finally breaking the awkward silence that had consumed our walk.
"No," I sighed, "I'm more angry at myself for leaving that boy. I shouldn't have done that and I don't even know why I did. I just got so mad at you that I wasn't thinking straight."
