Miranda's pov
I sit down shocked. My hands shaking. I look up at the guy that was my best friend for a long time. "S-So t-that's why you said we couldn't be friends?" I shakily whimper. He likes me? I can't believe it. "I couldn't tell you and I knew it would be impossible to keep hangin' around." "Then.... Why now?" He sighs. "I don't know." I stumble off the bus steps into the cold air. I look at the diamond ring on my finger. What do I do now? He walks off the bus steps. "I've uh held onto a song for a couple years now. I was wondering if I could sing it to you." My eyes stay glued to the ring. "Only if you promise me one thing." "What?" "At our wedding, you won't run away."
Jason's pov
Wait? What? She shakily slips the ring off her finger. "W-What are you doing?" "I don't mind one bit with dating my best friend. I like Mark but he's nothing compared to the kid from down the road." I drop the guitar in my hands. "After all these years...... We can be together again?" I whisper shocked. "Now what about that song?" She asks, smiling. I smile too and pick up my guitar again. "I wanna sweep you off your feet tonight, I wanna love you and hold you tight. Spin ya around on some old dance floor. Act like we never met before for fun, cause..... You're the one I want, you're the one I need baby if I was a king, you would be my queen. You're the rock to my roll, you're good for my soul it's true. I'm head over boots for you!" I wrote this after I had to stop talking to her. I hate that I did that. I lost my best friend and it was the worst feeling in the world. "The way ya sparkle like a diamond ring, maybe one day we can make it a thing, test time and grow old together, rock in our chairs and talk about the weather yeah so bring it on in for that angel kiss, put that feel good on my lips cause-" She rests a hand on the guitar, stopping me from singing. "Jason, close your eyes." Huh? "Uh okay." I do what she says and am shocked to feel her kiss me. My eyes snap back open and my hand finds her waist as I deepen the kiss and close my eyes again.

Miranda's pov
I stare at the diamond ring beside me on the night stand. "What do I tell Mark?" He opens his eyes. "Um...... Mark? Who?" I roll my eyes. "My fiancé who I just cheated on with my best friend!" I gasp, exasperated. He sits up. "I forgot all about him." I sigh and pick the ring back up. "What do I do?" He sighs. "One big question..... Do you feel the same way or are you just trying to satisfy me?" My eyes go wide and I look at him as he sits up slightly and props his head on his hand. I don't even know the answer to that. "It's....... Let's go with unsure, okay?" My phone rings, making me jump. "Oh shit! Jason, it's Mark!" His eyes go wide. "I... How about I tell him for you? It'll be easier." I shakily nod and hand him the phone.
Jason's pov
I get dressed and walk off the bus, leaning against the side, dreading to click answer. But I do anyway. "Hey I was wondering when you were getting home?" I sigh. "She's not coming home." Silence for like five seconds. "Who is this?" "You might not remember me. Jason from high school." "Yeah..... What.... Uh what are you talking about? She's not coming home?" "Yeah. I got no easy way to say this. But we sorta hooked up and well I uh that's it I guess." "You stole my fiancé?!" "Basically. Sorry Mark. But I've waited basically my whole life for this chance and I'm takin' it." He starts yelling like I knew.
Miranda's pov
I hear Mark yelling. I get off the bus and grab the phone. "Mark I'm sorry. It just happened. Please don't hate me!" "What the hell are we doing now?!" He shouts furious. I sigh. "I don't know Mark. I'm so sorry. I know what I said but...... Just find someone else... You don't deserve me." He hangs up and I drop the phone in tears. I pull the ring out of my pocket. Poor Mark. "See this is why I didn't wanna tell you." "You still shouldn't have left me like you did. I grumble, glaring at my bare feet which are getting cold. "It's hard to explain. I was a hormonal teenage boy and if I was alone with you I'd end up making a mistake like I did tonight!" "What the hell do you mean by that?!" "Cause you were with that Mark guy! And what happened tonight ruined whatever you had with him." "But it opened doors to something else." His eyes go wide. I walk over. "Jason, I kinda like the idea of us." "Really? Ya do?" I nod. "I've missed you so much Jason." I hug him tight. His hands shakily wrap around my waist. "I've missed you too. The hardest thing I've ever done was leaving you behind. Especially what I said that day at the skatepark. I feel horrible." He whispers, his voice muffled by my hair. "Jason, I think.... I think I love you..... More than just a friend." Tears soak my cheeks. He looks me in the eyes. "You really mean it?" I shakily nod and he brushes the tears from my eyes, leaving his hands on my cheeks. "I've loved you since the day I turned 13." He whispers, kissing me gently.
