Chapter Five: I Owe You

The top shows Summer at 16 played as Dianne Agron. The other side shows Declan at 15 played as Alec Bailey.

I wake up with the rays of the sun hitting my face. I yawn and sit up. Today I have to take Summer to the doctor.

I get up and change. I picked out black jeans and a simple red shirt. I don't tie my hair back this time. I slip on my black boots that go up to my knees.

Mason is still sleeping so I leave him a note saying, I already left to take Summer to the doctor. When I get back, my bed better be made!

After I'm done writing it, I slap it on his forehead. Surprisingly, he doesn't wake up. I hold in a laugh and walk out the room.

I walk down the hallway towards Summer's room. I open the door and see Summer still in bed.

She's awake and when she sees me, she groans and throws a pillow at me.

I catch it and throw it back. But she throws another and it hits me directly in the face.

I laugh and go next to Summer. I pull her arms up and say, "Come on Summer! We have to go get your head checked!"

Summer laughs and pulls me on the bed with her. I'm on top of her and immediately get off because it could hurt her.

When I pull back, she's smiling and I pull the covers off her. I grab her arms and pull her up.

She's standing and I pull her towards her closet. I pick some dark blue jeans for her and a black shirt.

It was cold outside and I couldn't find her jacket. "Where is your jacket?" I asked her.

Summer shrugged and I sigh. I take off my jacket and give it to her. After she's done changing, I help her out of the room.

We both walk down the stairs to be greeted by Lucas. I groan and so does Summer. I walk past him and so does Summer. But before we're out the door, Lucas grabs my wrist, in a not so gently way.

I wince when he twists my arm and then he pulls me closer to him. His other hand grabs my other wrist. I squirm in his grasp but he doesn't let go.

"Let. Me. Go," I say through gritted teeth.

He shakes his head pushes me to his body so my breasts are touching his chest.

He leans down and is about to kiss me when Summer comes next to him and kicks him in the side.

I gotta love my friend.

Lucas groans and falls on the floor. I rub my wrists and notice that they're red. I sigh and pull Summer out of the house.

We speed walk into town. When we get there, it's crowded and we have to be careful of not getting trampled, like last time.

I hold Summer's wrist and she holds mine. I hiss when she holds where Lucas gripped it. It hurt and I'm thinking of getting some sort of medicine for it.

I walk first and then Summer. I'm pushing people away with Summer trailing behind. I look behind and see Summer smiling at me. I smile back. And when I turn around my face connects with something hard.

I step back and look up a little. Jacob, of course. I bumped into Jacob's chest. Great.

"I'm sorry," I said.

"Hey, it's okay," Jacob replies.

"You know we have to stop bumping into each other like this," I state.
