CHAPTER FOUR // AWAKEN
Jungkook POVMy pounding head shoots up suddenly from my desk, the late morning sun beams in through the giant windows as everyone down below moves quickly down the busy streets. I must have fallen asleep here last night. I glance around at my surroundings while rubbing my sleepy eyes with the back of my hand.
I hear a buzzing noise on my desk that must have been the cause for my sudden awakening. I pick up my phone and notice that I have two new messages all from the person that makes my emotions jumble into a knot.
Unknown
Gm, Jungkook. It's me, Taehyung
Sent 12:02pmUnknown
This IS Jungkook, right?!
Sent 12:03pmI quickly change the contact name. My heart races as my fingers hover over the screen of my phone. What do I say? Maybe I should just ignore him. But it showed that I already read the texts. I have to text back.
Me
Good morning.

Wanna hang out?
Sent 12:05Taehyung
I want to get know u more, our conversation
yesterday wasn't really enough
Sent 12:05My eyes widen as my heart races. He really wants to hang out with me again? After seeing the stuttering mess I was yesterday he still wants to get to know me? Why would anyone want to try to get close to me? I still don't even understand why Jimin is still my friend, he could do a lot better.
Even with my conflicting emotions I feel myself writing the generic response I wanted to avoid but for some reason felt right.
Me
Sure.

Sounds great, c u there ;)
Sent 12:08What have I just gotten myself into? I can't go out and see him today, I'll be a mess, he'll be disgusted by me. Why did I agree? Is it too late to cancel? I click off my phone and lean my head back on the edge of my squishy desk chair, I breathe in a deep breath of air but it comes out ragged and painful.
I quickly stand up and get ready, I slip on my usual baggy shirt that fits my small body like a potato sack. I don't care what others think, I like it. I grab my bag and stuff my usual belongings into it, I then grab my phone and head towards the door. My heart pounds against my chest at the same rate my head throbs in pain from over thinking everything.
I walk for a little over five minutes until I reach the familiar shop, I walk inside and I'm about to walk to my regular table near the back when I notice someone's already there smiling at me. His smile can lighten up any dark room.
I walk over to the table and silently take a seat across from him. "Hello, Jungkook," he chirps and his loud voice is sudden yet calming, "hi, Taehyung," I say quietly and smile back. I notice that there are already two cups on the table, one coffee for him and one hot chocolate for me, how did he know my exact choice of beverage? He must have been paying close attention yesterday. I take a deep breath and clench my hand into a fist under the table so he doesn't see the stress and fear coursing through my veins.
"Now, where did we leave off yesterday... oh yes, you're a famous writer, I'm an amateur artist. What else should we discuss?" He dives straight into conversation which startles me, I'm not prepared for this. I squirm in my seat and sit up straighter. "Right. Um, what are your hobbies? What d-do you do in your spare time?" I ask and try my best not to stutter but it happens anyways.
His eyes light up in excitement, "well, when I'm not painting or drawing, I usually just hang out with my friend Yoongi, he finds me annoying but I'm pretty sure deep down that he secretly loves me, I mean, who doesn't?" He says and I let out a light giggle and he jumps in his seat. "Bunny!" He exclaims and points at my smile, it only makes me laugh more.
"What about you? Any hobbies--besides writing, that is," he asks and I ponder for a moment before shrugging. "I don't really do much else besides writing, it's what I love to do," I say honestly and he gives me a blank look that makes me squirm more in my seat. "Nothing? Nothing at all? Photography? Hanging with friends? Teddy bear collecting?"
"Wait hold up, teddy bear collecting?" I repeat and a sheepish smile grows on his tanned face, "yeah sorry, you just seemed like the type," he says and I laugh. "Well actually, I only have one friend, Jimin. I guess all I do is write and hang out with him although sometimes he can be quite annoying," I explain and he nods.
"I bet me and this Jimin guy would get along just fine," he says and the more I think about it the more I think that could be possible. They both seem to have an outgoing nature and two unique smiles, although Taehyung's is much brighter.
For hours all we do is sit and talk, after awhile my stutter diminishes as we engage into more conversation about our lives and what we do in our spare time. I have to admit, he's much easier to talk to than I initially thought. Just as we're both about to leave and part our separate ways he grabs my wrist and spins me back towards him, the same thing he did yesterday.
"Earlier you said you only had one friend," he begins and I nod sadly, does he really need to bring that back up again? "I'll be your friend," he says and for a moment I'm shocked but then a smile forms on my lips.
"Okay," I chirp quietly as he nods and begins walking away, he waves one more time before disappearing into the crowded streets. I take off walking the opposite way with my head low but a tiny smile still apparent.
