CHAPTER SIXTY // SLIP
third person POVNothing is heard in his ears except the sloshing sounds of his feet squelching against snowy slush and the intensity of his own pants that labour through heavy and somewhat exaggerated gasps for air to travel down his lungs. What was usually a five minute walk turned into a two minute sprint. The clouds were beginning to part, terminating a recent rain fall, allowing the dimming sunlight of the evening to break through.
Rain.
Suddenly, the significant weather phenomena didn't seem please him as much. It held so much meaning before, but right now his mind refuses to acknowledge that. He is blinded by rage, confused by his own fuming anger. His father lied to him. He was so foolish. He should have known.
Everything that happened over the past few weeks with Jungkook's absence seems to suddenly click in his head as he continues to run--sprint. Of course the boy wouldn't break up with him without a reason, he was in love, they were in love. It was his own father's fault. That man could never be trusted, but yet, he still believed his lies, and his wicked believable eyes.
His eyes gaze up at the clearing sky as he continues to run, he frantically watches as the thick rain clouds begin to vanish, only to be replaced by a descending sun. A beautiful sunset, the thing Jungkook adores so dearly. He almost smiles at the sight, his rage almost disappears. Almost, but not quite.
He spots the tall apartment building in the distance and determination begins to fill his limbs, lighting up his mind and turning his thoughts into a bonfire.
Heavy pants leave his lips as he yanks the solid doors open, sprinting inside, and deciding the stairs would be quicker than that slow-moving elevator. His legs carry him up the four flights of stairs, into an empty hallway. He quickly turns the corner, his breaths echoing off the narrow walls, only for his eyes to come in contact with a familiar looking door.
Without hesitating he beats on the door with both of his fists, even his foot.
"Bunny, I know you're in there. I know what my father's done. I know what's happened. Please, open the door, yeah? Please," he yells, his voice breathless. There's no response, something he wasn't quite expecting but prepared for anyways. His mind is a wildfire at this point, his actions working faster than his thought process. That's why he finds himself twisting the door knob.
Only for his eyes to suddenly widen when it opens with ease.
"Bunny!" The name leaves his lips faster than his body can be flung into the large apartment. It's cold, dark, and feels strange. Empty is the only word that comes to his mind. "Jungkook, please," he says quickly as he moves around the messy place, carefully navigating around the scattered mess of smashed flower vases and clay coffee mugs. He could only imagine the pain the boy must have been through.
His feet stumble down the hallway, past various picture frames of happy faces, past an empty bathroom, and empty closet, until he reaches the closed bedroom door. He opens it only to notice its empty presence as well. It was impossible. Jungkook wasn't anywhere to be seen.
After a few more minutes of searching it becomes completely clear that he was not in the apartment. But the heaving, frantic boy could tell that he was only here not long ago. But where could he have gone? Back to the brunet's apartment? Probably not. Jimin's home? Unlikely.
