CHAPTER FORTY FOUR // SUNSET STROLLS
Jungkook POVWarm steam erupts from an off-white mug, whipped cream formed into a delicate heart shape upon the very top of the hot beverage. My eyes fixated on the laptop screen before me as I type furiously, Taehyung seated across from me has to keep telling me to slow down and to remind me that I need to drink my hot chocolate before it goes cold. An idea had sparked within me this morning, a fantastic idea for a story that had to be told. The idea is still fresh in the brainstorming process but it's swell none of the less.
"You look cute when you concentrate," Taehyung teases and takes a sip from his coffee, a smile plays at my lips as I roll my eyes. He has been sitting here patiently for the past hour, doing absolutely nothing but sipping and staring. "You didn't have to come, you know," I say quietly, taking my eyes away from my screen for just a moment.
Taehyung nods, "what else would I being doing on this rainy evening? Plus, I like staring at you," he explains and I chuckle. "Well, that's not creepy at all," I mumble playfully, turning my attention back to the screen. "It's really not," he says back, flashing his famous smile.
"Need any refills?" A deep voice asks from beside us, I look up to see Namjoon with his usual uniform on, his smile allowing his dimples to surface perfectly. "Sure, buddy, but you know you don't have to be all formal with us, right?" Taehyung says and hands him my and his mugs. Namjoon leans down closer to us, "my boss is watching me very closely today to see if I'm fit for a raise, I gotta look good," he whispers and I giggle.
He lifts up Taehyung's cup and ends up spilling a bit on the table, Taehyung chuckles as the tall male attempts to wipe up the mess with a stained cloth. "I'm still amazed how you still have this job, how many mugs have you broken in the last month again?" Taehyung asks teasingly resulting in the taller to ruffle his hair messily, "shut up or the next time I spill something it'll be on you," he mumbles and walks away, a smile evident on his face.
Taehyung sighs, "how can an awesome guy like that be with someone like Seokjin," he mutters and shudders at the mention of the elders name leaving his lips. I frown and stop typing, "Seokjin's alright," I say and Taehyung glances up at me and begins laughing hysterically, his eyes begin to water from all the laughter. He stops when he spots my blank expression.
"Oh, you were serious?"
I nod and remain quiet, "how can you still like that guy?" Taehyung snaps slightly, a snarl on his lips. "Tae, he's your friend," I counter and he only scoffs. "He was before he hurt you," he explains immediately. I close my laptop, having enough with typing for the day. "Taehyung, all he did was give me alcohol. He didn't force me, I wanted to drink it. Nothing was his fault so just give it a rest already," my voice raises as I snap back at him.
"But h-"
"No buts, Kim Taehyung, I mean it. Drop the topic."
He stares at me astonished, his mouth agape as I find myself playing with my fingers nervously. "Sorry," I breathe out. "I just don't want you two to fight anymore," I whimper out and Taehyung grabs my hands, stoping me from twiddling my thumbs. "You want us to stop fighting?" He asks, his voice soft and a small, a sad smile on his tanned face. "We will, I promise, okay?" He whispers and kisses my hand making me smile too.
Namjoon returns with our refills, almost tripping on his way over but cathing himself just in time. He nods and smiles proudly to himself as he sets down the drinks. "Thanks, Joonie hyung," I say as he makes his way back to the counter.
