Beep Beep, Goes the heart monitor.

I open my eyes quickly only to squeeze them back shut because of all the brightness. I attempt looking around the room, Squinting and scanning the room only to realize I have just gotten out of surgery.

"Cah," I start but cant finish due to my scratchy throat.

"What? She's awake!" I hear a male voice say. A pink blob rushes to my side and puts a piece of loose hair behind my ear.

"Honey, you did great." My mom says, sympetheticaly.. I look at her up and down and nod.

"Yep, you're my mother." I say and hear a chuckle from her. It's not my fault things were blurry at first.

"And sadly, I'm you're brother," Jackson says and saunters over to my bed side. I roll my eyes but fail because they are only half open.

"Dierk," I mumble. Waffles are good, right?

"Wow, what's that? Dick and jerk combined?" he asks, in a mockingly way. I groan and flip him off.

"Jacks! Don't screw with her when shes drugged up!" my mom scowls. He throws his hands up in the air and sits back down in a chair. My mom starts to ramble but things keep going blurry so I just try to ignore her and sleep more. And thanks to the drugs, it works just as fine as a ... Toaster. Yeah, a toaster hahahaaa...

"Maizy? How ya doin?" I here a sweet voice ask. I open my eyes and see a nurse over me adjusting my IV tube.

"What day is it?" I ask, trying to stand up, but fail when my ankle is stiff and hurts like hell. I look down to see a big ol boot on my leg. I suck in some air and lay back down.

"It's tuesday, hun. How are you feeling?" the nurse questions again.

"Could be better." I say, pointing to the machine I'm attached to. I sigh and lean back into the bed.

"Where's my mom?" I ask once I realize nobody is here. I mean, it's not a new thing, being alone. I've been pretty independent, but I at least expected to have my mom here.

"Oh, she left about 10 minutes ago. She'll be back shortly I'm sure of it." she answers back sweetly. I nod and reach for my phone on the bedside table I have. I scroll for a couple minutes on Instagram before a tall figure rushes in my room.

"Oh! You're awake," Camden says and stops once he sees me look up from my phone.

"Yep," I say, popping the p.

"Well, the doc said you can go home today. You practically slept through every minute of each day." he starts to explain. I raise an eyebrow and sit up more.

"Okay, and?" I ask, waiting for him to cut to the chase.

"I brought you some clothes.." he says, handing me a pair of my running shorts, along with a volleyball sweatshirt I got from my school's season. I thank him before he exits and a nurse comes rushing in to remove the IV and other tubes and wires attached to me.

"Okay, we'll just prescribe you with some of the stronger ibuprofen till the pain minimizes, and get you in physical therapy once your ankle heals." the doc explains and I nod. They leave so I can change and give me crutches. I slip my right flip flop on and limp out into the common area to find my mom talking at the front desk.

"Ready?" she asks and I nod. We make our way down to the main level and find where The boys have the car. I hop in the back seat of the truck, throwing my crutches in the bed and we're off.

"Y'all hungry?" my mom asks and looks at the three of us. I shrug my shoulders, even though I haven't eaten in two or three days.

"Oh, come on, Maze, Red Robin?" she suggests. The boys all yell "YUM" so I guess thats where we're headed.

I hate this location. At this Red Robin, the decoration is way too tacky and the waiters are way too perky. Two of my least favorite things. But the food is good.

"Welcome to Red Robin, can I start you guys off with anything to drink?" the kind girl asks.

"We'll take lemonade." my mom and Camden's dad discuss.

"Okay, and how about these cuties over here?" she flirts, winking at My brother and Camden. I raise my eyebrows and look her up and down. Why am I getting jealous? I mean my brother is nasty, so I can't help but snort at him, but really? Camden?

"I'll Have Dr.Pepper," Jackson says. Thats all he drinks.

"I'll take sweet tea, please." Camden says, winking back at her.

"Alrighty, and how bout you, kid?" she asks once she reaches me. I glare at her and she smiles sweetly at me. I feel a hand grab mine and see Camden smirk at me.

"She'll have tea as sweet as she is." he says, kissing my cheek. I play along and smile back at her.

"You always know, don't you?" I say, dragging his arm around my shoulder. She nods and leaves and our parents look at us like we're insane. We both look at at each other and burst into a fit of laughter.

"What the hell was that about?" My mom asks skeptically.

"It's just a, uh.. Little game." Camden says. I nod in agreement but my smile fades and our drinks arrive.... Yeah, right... It's just a game, as is everything else in this damned world.

Short but cute I think. Im hoping to make chapters longer soon but I'll be busy coming up in the next 2 weeks with Volleyball Camp so Im trying to keep up! But let me know what you thought in the comments! Vote, Comment, and share! Also, excuse any typos😂
