I stretched out across the couch in the conference room attempting to get a few minutes of sleep before we were on the road for our exhibition game. I'd had a long day and I looked like hell but what can you do?

when I finally began to drift off something or more like someone leaned over me and softly pressed their lips to the tip of my nose. I opened my eyes and they were met with a pair of hazel ones, masked by the shadow of a ball cap.

"yes?" I groaned before turning on my side and tucking my head in the corner my pillow made with the couch.

Sidney chuckled and sat down next to me, rubbing his hand across my back and leaving a trail of goosebumps with every brush of his fingers. "we're about to head out."

I let out a yawn and leaned up. he stood up, then helped me up. once I reached my feet being capable of keeping balance he slung my duffle bag over his shoulder and grabbed my small hand in his large one.

"how was school today?" he asked as we walked the halls of the console center.

"it was okay," I responded, "I had an exam and I'm not sure if I did very well."

he kind of giggled knowing that my not very well and his were two totally opposite things. "I'm sure you did fine, Maggie."

I smiled up at him before we reached the bus. we both walked in and plopped down in seats next to each other.

I pulled out my laptop from my backpack and began to scroll through PLTW to start working on an assignment due the next night.

"whatcha doin?" he leaned over, asking in a curious manner similar to that of a child.

"my homework," I giggled.

he opened his mouth to responded but shut it as Beau climbed onto the bus and looked at me. I got up from my seat and walked over and sat down next to him. Sid turned around with a dazed look on his face.

"what? are you guys a thing now?" he asked in annoyed tone. his eyes cut back at Sidney who was now deep into conversation with Geno.

"no we aren't. calm down, Bennett." I poked at him trying to lighten the mood.

"make sure he knows that."

I rolled my eyes and plugged my headphones into my laptop and started listening to a song Sidney had recommended a few nights before.

the bus ride to Philly was uneventful. I finished up my homework and talked to Beau some about the party coming up for my birthday.

"so Bailey will be there?" he asked with a raised brow.

"why wouldn't she be? she's my sister Beau. I can't just tell her to not be there."

he shrugged and checked the notifications on his phone.

"also you are looking rather dark today." he commented.

"it was cool and rainy. I wore black. not a big deal." I snapped back.  it must've been louder than I meant it to be because the whole team looked at both of us. I slid down into my seat and started looking at Instagram.

he reached over and looked at the scar making its appearance from behind my shit collar. his thumb trailed what was present.

when we arrived in Philly, I rushed off the bus and away from the team. I needed time alone before the game tonight. don't get me wrong I loved those boys and my job but alone time was nice too.

I settled into a coffee shop a few miles from the rink and grabbed a book from my bag. just as I began to read a guy walked in and took an instant liking to what I assume was my face. he kept his eyes on me as I read my book and I fought my urge to blush on account that he was very attractive.
