I woke up feeling lost, alcohol always did this to me. I grabbed the Gatorade bottle off my night stand and drank it quickly before pulling myself out of bed to get ready for school.
The notifications on my phone were infinite. Guys like Beau and Ryan were trying their best to get in touch with me and that made me wonder...who took me home?
I grabbed some holy jeans from my closet and a ratty Mumford and Sons tee that used to be Beau's. My hair was a wreck so I pulled it into a ponytail and did some makeup to compensate. I had to be at work later so I needed to look somewhat presentable.
Before I could grab my shoes my sister burst through my door. "Did you go out with Bennett last night?"
"Why do you care, Bailey?" I sighed. A hangover made her voice that much more unpleasant. She used to date Beau and now whenever I was with him she freaked out as if I was banned from his presence.
"Did you go out with him, Maggie, I won't tell mom and dad I just need to know!" she demanded. her lips quivered as she spoke.
"Yes. I was with him and the team last night. why do you care?"
"Did he dance with other girls?" she shut my bedroom door and sat down on the bed next to me.
I began to put on my shoes, noticing how late I was running and knowing that she was only going to make me later, "I honestly don't know Bailey. I was wasted. He didn't even bring me home."
I turned to face her and noticed tears streaming down her face. I don't know why, she dumped him. He was the one that was supposed to be heartbroken and I suppose he still is. She nodded and got up off the bed and walked out. Bailey was the dramatic sibling. When her and Beau broke up it was like world war three in our house for sometime. I wasn't even allowed to get dressed for work at home because seeing the pens logo would make her freak.
I slung my backpack over my shoulder and bounced downstairs.
"goodmorning princess," my dad smiled.
I hugged him then sat down and grabbed a piece of toast from the plate. My mom brought over a plate of eggs and bacon and gave me a weak smile. She knew I was my dads favorite, and it was painfully obvious in the family dynamic.
"What are everyone's plans today?" she asked.
"I'm working late then dinner with some guys from the team" I spoke up before shoving a large bite of food into my mouth. Bailey frowned.
"Can you pick Austin up from soccer?" mom pleaded.
"Um, yeah I can try. If I can't I'll ask Beau. I'm not too sure what the plan is with Jack today."
She nodded then we all began to listen to Austin ramble on and on about school. I looked down at my phone and saw an odd number on my screen with about three texts along with it.
unknown: did I leave my jacket there last night?
unknown: Maggie?
unknown: Maggie it's Sidney. I really need to know.
Crosby brought me home? I got up from the table and walked out to my car and dialed his number.
"Maggie hey. Sorry to call so early I just can't find my hoodie and I didn't know if it was there."
"Yeah no worries. I'll check." The line stayed silent.
I looked in the backyard and sure enough it was there. He must've dropped it.
"yeah it's here," I laughed, "I'll bring it to the rink tonight."
"No don't worry about it. You keep it. Have a good day at school," I could hear his smile in his voice before he hung up.
