"Wh-where am I?" Leah spoke, glancing around at the people so unfamiliar to her. Only one face she recognized, and that soon brought her comfort as she noticed him.
"Seth!" She ran and embraced him. "But Felicity said..."
"She wasn't lying, doll. We're gone. But, these people here are looking after your friends, and I do believe we should join them." He kissed her lightly.
"Then let's go! They must be the one's the Pevensie's spoke of."
"Calm down, love," Seth smoothed her hair. "We need to wait for Aslan to return anyway."
Leah's eyes grew wide. "The Aslan the Pevensies know?"
A voice from behind her chuckled, deep and rumbling. "Which other Aslan is there, child?"
----
"He's so tiny!" Lucy cooed as she and the others sat in Susan's room.
"Well, he was just born, Lu," Susan smiled, looking down at the small boy asleep in her arms.
Caspian placed a hand on her shoulder and kissed her softly. "I'm so proud of you, my strong queen."
As this conversation was going on, Edmund smiled faintly. However, his thoughts were not all pleasant, and the memory of Leah falling to the ground as blood ran quickly from her neck hurt him more than he even realized.
Knowing he could slip from the room unnoticed, he made his way out the hospital corridors and the door, heading for the gardens, The gardens where he had kissed Leah so long ago.
He ran his hands along the branches of the trees, thoughts swimming. Leah... was she with her solider, Seth? While he wished she had lived, that she could be with him, he knew that her heart belonged to Seth.
Had she been taken to Aslan's country? He hoped so. It was pleasant, and you didn't even realized you were dead.
Dead. He was stupid. Lucy couldn't die again, could she? He could have saved Leah...But his sister... Edmund's thoughts were torn.
"You okay, kitten?" A voice starled him, causing him to flinch. He spun around quickly and sighed.
"Oh, Isabela. Sorry, I was just... thinking."
She smiled sadly. "It's understandable. But remember, death is just a journey. Leah's in Aslan's country, happy as can be."
"She's there? Aslan told you?" Edmund spoke quickly.
"Yes, she's there with her love. She wants you to know that she doesn't blame you at all. In fact, she praises the fact you wanted to save them both."
"But I didn't," Edmund sighed, turning away from her. "And I don't deserve her saying that."
Isabela rolled her eyes. "You're a bit daft, aren't you?"
"Excuse me?"
"You say you don't deserve her praise, yet you know you do. You were the one who got James caught, you saved your sister and her baby, you made Leah feel comforted when Felicity's lie was revealed. That, my dear friend, is all praise worthy."
"She died on my watch Isabela. If only I had-"
The woman cut him off by crashing her lips to his.
-
"Alright, it's time for you all to go now," The nurse ushered Peter and Caspian out. She turned to Lucy. "And you are her sister, correct?"
Lucy nodded and the woman smiled slightly. "Then you may stay."
As the other's left, Lucy turned to her sister. "You know Su, you really are the strongest person I know."
"How so?" Susan asked, raising her brow.
"You've gone through so much, yet you persevered. You have a son, a man who loves you, and you've also grown so much."
Susan smiled lightly. "You mean it? I'll be honest, Lu. It's been a struggle, more than I'd care to admit. But it was you and everyone else who helped me through everything. And I need to thank you for that." She carefully reached to hug her sister and not wake the child in her arms.
Lucy studied Alistair carefully. "I think he'll look like you, sis."
"I truly hope so."
