Arthika's P.O.V

"What's wrong with me?" He asked with fear evident in his eyes. He looked like he was in so much pain. I have seen virat all confident and determined. But seeing him scared and doubtful hurts me....

I have no choice but to keep up with my professional tone.

" You have a huge slash in your abdomen from the metals piercings from your car. There are several scrapes on your body. But your arm is the most injured one. You right side of your body is completely injured from the impact of the accident. Your right humerus bone is fractured . It is an open fracture so you must be treated immediately but it takes some time to recover. Considering the fact that you are a right armed cricketer you must rest for at least 3 weeks. Hospitalized. The surgery will be a success but the recovery period is quite long. Your emergency contact has been called in and the surgery will start once we speak to them. You must take rest. I'll give you some time before the surgery." I said looking straight at his eyes. I tried hard not to get lost in his mesmerizing brown orbs. His eyes were looking straight into me as if to see if I was kidding.

When he realized that I was not, he started mumbling a series of curse words. He was fuming with so much anger that I was afraid even to breath loud. I stepped back a little startled at his sudden change of mood.

He noticed my fear and took deep breath calming himself. His eyes softened a little at my hesitation.

" I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have reacted before you. Its just that I'm currently playing IPL series and my team needs me now. If I don't play now..it can affect my career. " said virat in a low tone.

I can't control myself. I took a seat by his bedside and stared out of the window. The window showed the most beautiful view of Delhi. Sun was shining bright and cars were zooming out in high speed. His gaze followed mine.

" I know it tough to sit idle when you are needed the most. But anger doesn't solve anything . It only fuels our already hurt heart. Just letting our beloved ones know that we support them no matter what is more than what we could give. Your team will do just fine."

I diverted my gaze towards him and saw him already looking at me. I gave him a sincere smile. He just returned it back.

"Guess you have an advantage from staying in this hospital " I said. He just gave me a curious look.

"What?"

"Well.........you can spend some quality time with your family and friends. Your favourite football league is up. You can enjoy that. And........"

"And?"

"Take rest". He just groaned in response.

I chuckled at his frustration. He looked so cute when his face falls Into a frown. His eyes crinkled a little at the corner and his lips formed a thin line. He gave me a forced glare and it made me giggle more.

At last he gave up. His lips formed a small smile. I explained a little more about the procedures and its impacts. He listened with keen interest.

"Get ready for your surgery soon. My boss will be back soon to inspect you a bit. Looks like your mom is here to see you. I'll leave you two."

"One sec......"

"Yeah?"

"How's my friend Vijay? Please say he's fine. I practically forced him into the car. Let him be alright." He begged.

"He's fine. Better than you. But I think he too might need to be hospitalized. But nothing serious to worry about."

He noded his head absent mindedly. He's thinking how to explain his situation to his mom I presume.

I made my way to the door checking one last time at the monitor. I couldn't help but peek a glance at his for a last time. What??? I'm too a fan naa? He was sleeping peacefully curdled in a ball his face lit up from the sunlight. He looked like he was in another peaceful world where no pain exist. His arm must hurt a lot considering he refused to take the required sedatives. He didn't want it to affect his system in any way.

I reached the corridor shaking my head to let my mind focus on my patients. Its hard working considering the fact that your favorite person in this world is admitted in hospital under your supervision. I was confronted by a middle aged lady throwing question at me. Baffled, I looked closer to see it was virat's mom.

"How is my son? Is he fine? Where is he? When did he get admitted? Who is his doctor? Is he going to be all right?"enquired with worry evident in her voice.

" Mrs. Kohli, I need you to relax. Your son is at fine hands. He's doing well. My boss who's his doctor will be talking with you soon. You will be needed to do some formalities. "Take a seat". I gestured her towards the waiting hall.

She visibly relaxed a bit. But it didn't last long.

"I want to see him. Where is he?"

"He's asleep. He's in ward no.207. I suggest you wait till he's awake. He needs as much rest he can get."

The fragile lady nods and sank low in one of the metal chairs. I made my way towards the reception to receive my schedule for the day. But my mind was focused on just one of it.

Virat's surgery.....
