"Yeah well, anything's better than this place. What's next?" Teresa asked.

"Figure out who's going, who's staying." Newt said as he took a deep breath. "Get ready. Food, weapons, all that. Then we go. Thomas, I'd put you in charge since it was your idea, but it's going to be hard to get people on our side without making the Greenie our leader- no offence. So just lay low, okay? We'll leave the code business to you, Teresa, and Rosie – you can handle that from the background."

Rose nodded. She was more than happy to be in the background, not dealing with the Grievers head on. But her relief was short lived when Newt shifted his weight to his left leg. He only ever did that when his right ankle was bothering him. Rose kept her stare on Newt's ankle until Thomas spoke up.

"You sure make it sound easy." Thomas said, his voice not as confident as Rose expected.

"Well, either way someone's gonna die tonight." Rose said as she glanced to Newt and back at Thomas.

"If you're right, that is." Newt finished Rose's thought before she could continue.

"I am." Thomas's confidence returned as he straightened himself just slightly.

"Good that. Let's get to work then." Newt ended the conversation.

Teresa and Thomas did as told and walked away from Newt and Rose. Rose stared and Newt and watched as he looked over the Glade, as if he wasn't quite sure what to do or how to do it. He was flustered and Rose knew it.

"What?" Newt asks, snapping Rose out her thoughts.

"You okay?"

"Mhm, why?" Newt murmurs as he turns and starts limping, minding his bad leg more than usual.

"Your leg." Rose says from behind him, not following him.

Newt stops and looks at the sky before turning around. "I'm fine, Rosie." He gives Rose a half smile.

"Newt, maybe we should wait, just until tomorrow. Your bloody leg is buggin' you more than usual."

"Rosie." Newt says as he moves towards her and places his hands on her shoulders. "My bloody leg ain't getting any better. Nothing we can do about it." Newt furrows his eyebrows, his face showing how guilty he felt for his accident. Rose couldn't help but let her head drop as she became consumed with remorse. She didn't want to make Newt feel anymore guilty about his accident than he already did, but she was. "Hey, everything's gonna be okay, I promise." Newt lifted Rose's head so she was looking at him. "As long as I bloody have this." He reached into his back pocket and pulled out the guardian angel portrait she had drawn for him. "We'll be just fine." Newt smiles as he cocks his head just slightly to left.

"Okay." Rose gave the boy a genuine smile. Newt leaned down and kissed her lips softly before taking her hand and heading towards the kitchen. "You're a cheese ball you know." Rose laughs.

"You love me." Newt smirks in response.

"Yeah." Rose shook her head and giggled.

"Rose! You're coming with me." Minho said as he ran up from behind the couple.

"What? Why? Wait. Where?" Rose wrinkled her forehead in confusion. She thought Minho was losing his mind. He shouldn't need her for anything.

"Maze? We're not just gonna run in there and find out that shuck Griever Hole is closed or whatever. We're gonna check it out while these shanks get everything ready."

"Uh, okay." Rose stuttered. She didn't want to go into the Maze on the off chance there would be more Grievers. If the Creators were still watching them, they might have sent more Grievers in the Maze than usual to prevent their escape. Not to mention, there was a possibility her or Newt weren't going to make it. She wanted to spend as much time with Newt as she could. But, Rose knew there wasn't time to argue and she'd lose the argument regardless. "I'll be back I guess." Rose said as she kissed Newt on the cheek.
