Recover-Chapter Six

The guys started running out from the pit onto the field. "Alexander is number twelve. He only plays for offense though." Andrea said. I nodded.

"So Lexii, are you new here? I haven't seen you around before." Katy asked while sticking a nacho in her mouth. Oh how I would kill for just one chip! "Yeah I moved here Tuesday." I didn't want to tell her were I came from just incase she knew anyone from there.

"Oh so how do you like your classes?"

"They're okay.. Just boring classes as usual." I smiled. My hands were still sweaty. The people yelling in the crowd didn't help.

The announcer started rambling on about the two high schools that were playing.

About ten minutes later the boys started in position. I tried to remember if offense had the ball or defense, I get the two confused. "Hey look there's Mike!" Clara cheered. "Alexander is the one that the quarterback is going to pass to I think. He mostly gets the ball. See him." She held her index finger out trying to help me find him. So far, Andrea isn't so bad.

I spot Alexander in the jersey that had a huge twelve on the back. Suddenly all the players at the front lines slammed into each other. I never have gotten the point of why they do that. Number fifty passed the ball to Alexander and he started running. He didn't make it very far but the announcer said they had gotten a first down, whatever that is..

"You want to come with me to go get food or something to drink?" Andrea asked. I nodded, not wanting to be left alone with Clara and Katy.

The game was at halftime with a lead of 21-14. The smell of food was killing me, I just had to have something. I ordered nachos and a Pepsi while Andrea got the same but with a Dr. Pepper.

"So what's going on between you and Alexander? You like him or something?" Andrea took her food in one hand with the drink in the other. "Or something." I said. I didn't like Alexander, I couldn't thanks to Jessie. She laughed. "I would say he likes you, but he doesn't really show if he likes a girl or not. He's pretty good about hiding it. Only Mike knows if he likes someone."

I shrugged it off not putting much thought to it. There are better girls out there then me so I'm not too worried. "But do you like him?" She was really pushing at me for the answer. "As a friend, I guess.. I don't have the best experiences with guys.."

"Oh Lexii, I can help you out with that! I can teach you everything! I will teach you how to-"

"No, not like that.. My past.. My ex- it was a bad breakup.. I don't want to talk about it." She nodded in understanding. "Alexander is an amazing guy you know.. He's really sweet. He would do anything to help out the people he cares for."

I let her voice dwindle from my ears. If all she was going to talk about is how great Alexander is, I don't want to listen. "With all that you're saying, it makes it seem like you like him." I blurted out. Her cheeks turned red and she laughed. "No, I'm dating Mike. I have known both of them for years now though.." I felt really stupid for what I had said earlier.

"Can I ask you one question about Alexander?" We walked back over to the stands where fans were cheering. "Sure, what is it?"

"He's a player, isn't he? You know that type of guy who has a different girl every week?" She turned her face the other way and let the wind push her hair in her face blocking my image. "About that... Yeah.. He is, but he's-"

"No, don't make excuses. It's fine, I just wanted to know. Thanks." She smiled and sat down with the other two girls.

"I think I'm going to go back and get some napkins." I randomly announced. The girls nodded their heads and let me pass by.
