Recover chapter seventeen

"Baby!" I cheered jumping into Gavin's arms. I haven't seen him since before he left for his trip. He wrapped his arms around me tight. "I missed you." He said with a deep husky voice, kissing my cheek. He put me down on my two feet after closing the door.

Mom was in the kitchen preparing the food. Andrew was also in the kitchen helping mom, but came out when he heard the door open. "Merry Christmas!" Gavin pulled me into him. "Merry Christmas," I said back.

Gavin stood up and loosened his grip on me when he saw Andrew walking out way. The both shook hands and said hello to each other. "How was your trip?" I asked leading Gavin to the living room.

"It was nice.. Glad we came back yesterday though. My sisters want to meet you now." He smiled down at me. I nodded. I heard my mother call me from the kitchen and I groaned. I didn't want my mom to meet Gavin. It's not because I don't think she will like him, I just don't need her in my business. Gavin gently smacked my thigh and rose from his seat.

"Mom, this is my boyfriend, Gavin." Her face lit up, and she hugged Gavin. "Oh it's nice to meet you honey. Please take a seat.. The food will be out in just a second."

"She seems nice." Gavin mumbled. "No. She's always in my business wanting to know stuff." Gavin rolled his eyes and sat down.

"So Gavin, what do you plan on doing after you finish high school?" My mom asked setting the final dish down on the table. I had almost finished filling my plate. I placed the large spoon back in with the peas and handed the bowl to Gavin. He scrunched his nose. "No.. I don't like peas." He turned to my mom and answered her question. "Well I plan on going to college. My dad and I are taking a few days here and there to go tour college campuses." Something seemed off again.. Like he was lying about his words. I wondered why he would lie to my mom about something so simple.

"That's good. Any ideas what you want to major in?" Gavin dipped on his water and squeezed my hand under the table. "Not yet. But I'm hoping something will pop in my head soon."

"What do you plan on doing with my sister?" Andrew asked. Oh god I can already seen how this night is going to end. "I plan on loving her, and making her feel special, because she deserves it."

"You better be careful on how you 'love her'. I swear to God if you get her pregnant I am coming after you and I won't be as nice as I am now."

"Andrew!" My mom and I both snapped at the same time. Gavin awkwardly shifted next to me. "I'm not going to get her pregnant. I'm not going to use her in any way. She's just different.. Not in a bad way." Gavin said. "Oh so you used to use girls?" Andrew retorted. "No. Look I'm not going to sugarcoat anything. Yeah I've had sex before, yeah I've had a one night stand, but that doesn't mean Lexii is going to be any of those. I'm not saying she's the love of my life because I don't know yet, but I love her enough to where I'm not going to hurt her."

I was surprised that Gavin was fighting back. Anybody else would have just not replied. Andrew didn't say anything, mom was quiet sitting there in shock, and I was just scared of what was going to happen next. "Why can't we just have a normal dinner? It's Christmas Andrew, you can't shut your mouth for one day? Why do you always have to ruin things?!" I pushed back my chair and left the table.

"Honey, Andrew is just-" my mom started. "No mom! Stop sticking up for him when he ruins everything! We can't sit down and eat even if we have someone here!" I bursted out of the room leaving Gavin. I truly felt bad for fighting with my family in front of him, and leaving him by hisself.

I was nowhere near sad, but I was so angry I started crying. I couldn't contain it. It's Christmas, it's supposed to be a happy day. Happy days never happen in my family. I don't even want to call them my family anymore. I can't stand my mother and Andrew and I have a love/hate relationship.
