Aruka: Hm... (I had a feeling a cry was coming from down stairs.) Is that a baby I hear...? (She jolted, panicking.) It's quite alright. I'll come with you.
Aphmau: Mm. Okay. (We went downstairs to her basement then to the baby's room.) Aw, little Levin, what's wrong? (He was crying about being hungry, and I smiled.) I'm sorry about that.
Aruka: It's quite alright. (I went through my bag of stuff, pulling a bucket of milk out for her to put in a bottle.) He's hungry, Lord Aphmau. (She took it.) That should help, and I'll go see if there are any bottles around.
(She nodded, as I ran up the stairs to the room I woke up in where I left one of my bags.) There. (I rummaged through it, getting a bottle for the baby.) I've got one, Lord Aphmau!
(I felt like someone was watching me, but quickly went downstairs to her, handing the bottle to her, as she gave the baby to me.) I'm guessing, he's an orphan left outside your door...? (She put the milk inside the bottle, giving me back my bucket, as I hand her Levin.)Aphmau: Yeah, how'd you know? (I shrugged nonchalantly, as she fed him, rocking him.)
Aruka: He has blue eyes, and I'm guessing you're a bit young for kids, at the moment. (She smiled, nervously, feeling weird that a stranger could see that as clear as day. And, to me, it wasn't a lie, because it really did look that way.) Just a good observation, is all.
Aphmau: Maybe so, but I still feel weird about it. (She sighed, as she walked up the stairs with Levin, and me following behind her.) Come on. I want to introduce you to the village of Phoenix Drop, if you're up for it.
(I jolted, as she walked to the door.) It's your choice. (I grabbed my bag from the side of the bed, and put it in my inventory. I turned to her, as she waited for my response, and I sighed.)Aruka: I'll think about it, Lord Aphmau. You and little Levin go on ahead. I'll catch up.
Aphmau: Are you sure? (She looked at me, worried, and I nodded, going through my bag.) Alright, then I'll see you in a bit, I guess.
(She walked out the door, closing it behind her, as she went to talk to the villagers.) I'm not gonna force her, I mean, I understand why she would say that and feel the way she does. I'd feel the same way, Levin, if I just woke up in some random house of a Lord of a village, then I would be a bit distant and cautious, too.
(She went around, talking to the villagers, and Levin ended up being the center of attention. Though, others were more curious of where he came from, than how cute he was. One of them being Garroth.) Yeah, he was just left at my door step, odd, right?
(She rubbed her neck.) Garroth, there is something I need to tell about the incident with the girl, earlier. (He looked at her, tense.)Garroth: The girl...? You mean, the one we found on the outskirts of town? (He sounded serious.)
Aphmau: Yeah. The one that fell and the guards caught, that's her. (Levin hummed, silently.)
Garroth: What is the matter, Lord Aphmau? (He stepped up, ready for the news.)
Aphmau: Well, the thing is, Garroth. (She smiled.) She's awake, now, and she's quite the character.
Garroth: Really...? (She nodded, and he thought for a moment.) Does this mean, you want to question her? (She sighed, thinking on it.) I see... you're not sure, at the moment...
Aphmau: Well, I mean, it'd be rude to just question her, right off the bat. She just woke up, ya know. (She looked away.)
I don't want to come off rude or nosey. (While they were talking, said girl, me, was hiding in the shadows between the houses. Not really trying to hide, but not really attempting to be the center of attention, either.)Garroth: But, we don't know if we should be on alert, or not. (He made a good point.) And, she could be dangerous, maybe even another assassin.
(I scoffed, silently, at his accusations, but didn't deny his possible theories, either.) We have to be careful around her. (I leaned on the wall with my arms crossed, and my right leg propping me upright.)Aphmau: Even so... (I raised my head a little, interested in what she had to say.) She can't really do much, if she doesn't have any reason to act on it, Garroth.
Garroth: I'm just saying, we shouldn't risk it. (I sighed, pulling myself from the wall, stepping out from the shadows.) Wha?! (He guarded Aphmau, while others were guarded by the rest of the guards.) Stay back, Lord Aphmau!
Aruka: Well, this is the welcome I'm greeted with..? Hmgh. (I gave an emotionless look to the surrounding villagers.) Though, you're right. I could be an assassin, here to take out your Lord.
Garroth: I'll cut down, if you even try! (He narrowed his eyes, I dashed to him and swiftly hit his stomach.) Gah-!! (He dropped his sword and shield, falling forward, as I caught him.) Tch...!
Aruka: Hmgh. (I growled at his stupidity.) As if, you fool! (He winced, barely lifting his head up to look at me.) You couldn't tickle me, even if you wanted to. You're so broken that I didn't need to try to take you down. (Aphmau jolted.) You're the one, who just got out of bed rest from an injury by Irene knows what, and you say you're gonna cut me down...? You wreak of blood; I can smell it on you.
(I pulled my fist from his stomach, and cringed at the scent of blood. Blood covered my fist, and dripped from his left side.) Don't you see...? (The sight of it shocked the villagers, Lord Aphmau most of all.) I haven't even started, and you're already covered in your own blood.... (I sighed, shaking my head, helping him up.)
You should really think, before doing something that STUPID! (He jolted, looking at me.) If you really want to protect your Lord, then don't worry the hell out of her so much, dammit. (I felt eyes on me, and turned to Aphmau, as I put one of Garroth's arms over my shoulder.)
Lord Aphmau, I would like to advise that he be kept under watch for his safety. I will take shifts, if one other person volunteers. (She looked around at the villagers.) It does not have to be right now, just consider it.
(Aphmau guided us back to his previous recovery room, and I set him down.) By the way, if I wanted to destroy this village, then I'm sure you guys would never see me coming. (He breathed, heavily on the bed.) But, luckily for you guys, I'm here to help. (I turned from Garroth to Aphmau.) If you'll except me.Author: So, this is my other chapter. I made this one longer, than the others, because hey, it was short as hell to begin with, if you didn't notice. Anyway, hope you like it! 😘
