14.

School was ending soon and Jasmines party was coming up as well. I hadn't told Landon or Sebastian about me going to Florida for Jasmine's party. I really didn't know how to tell them that I would be there for two weeks. I of course was looking forward to it but I was going to miss them. Then there was the rest of summer. I was going to spend it in Texas. I had no choice. I couldn't lodge at the dorms for the summer. It would be hard for me tell Landon.

I was walking to club 151, where Landon was hosting another charity concert. It was something his family loved to do. But this time it was all Landon coordinating it. He had been going crazy the past week trying to get everything together. So I hadn't seen him much.

I entered the already full club, searching for Landon. There was already a band up playing. The room was swaying to the melody. I pushed toward the front and found a small table reserved for me. Landon told me he had reserved it for me. He was so sweet. I sat alone.

I watched as bands and soloists went up to perform. There were a lot of cover bands.

Finally, Landon was up stage with his friends. This time he wasn't singing alone, he was with a girl I didn't know. Landon was on the side with a guitar. He played a slow song and began to sing.

"Comparisons are easily done

Once you've had a taste of perfection

Like an apple hanging from a tree

I picked the ripest one, I still got the seed

You said move on, where do I go?

I guess second best is all I will know"

As he sang the last line, he looked at me. Our eyes met immediately. He gave a small smile and continued playing. The girl was singing now.

I didn't know what to think of the song. It was beautifully depressing. I wonder why he chose the song. I just shrugged it off and waited till they were done.

After a few minutes Landon was at my table, sitting next to me.

"I'm glad you came. How'd you like it?" he said over the blaring music. People were gyrating.

"it was great. Everyone played well." I said. Landon smiled.

"you want to get dinner?" he asked.

I just nodded.

We headed to Rider cafe. We hadn't came for a while. I didn't know what was going on between Landon and Rai.

We entered the cafe and was immediately greeted by the boy in the tourism booth. He looked different than last time. His hair was short and he wasn't using his glasses. I almost didn't recognize him. His voice gave it away. In some way, he reminded me of my self. I didn't know why but he just did.

We sat at the back booth like usual. I was a little nervous to tell him that I'd be gone for the whole summer. I took a deep breath and told my self it would be fine.

"So, what are you doing this summer?" I asked.

Landon looked at me. "probably travel a bit for business. Oh, maybe we could explore Seattle. I would love to go hiking some time." he said.

The waitress whose name tag read Carter came up to us, notepad in hand. She asked us of we were ready to order. Her attention wasn't wholly on us, she kept looking at the boy in the tourism booth. We gave her our orders and she walked away.

"well she seemed distracted" Landon said. He had to repeat himself while giving his order.

"I think shes having boy trouble." I said, looking at the boy at the booth, who was looking at the other waitress. There was something definitely going on with the staff.
