I walked to the lobby bathroom before entering my room. I didn't want Landon to see my face tear stained. I looked into the mirror and I looked icky. My eyes were rimmed black and smeared makeup on my cheeks. I quickly washed it off and went to the room. Landon was still awake. "you're awake." I said. He was laying on the bed reading a magazine. "yea I couldn't sleep." he said. "how are you feeling." he gave a small smile. "alright. Thanks." I said and sat at the edge of the bed next to Landon. "it's no problem. I'm just glad that you're feeling better." Landon said and pulled me to him. He wrapped his arms around me as I leaned against his chest. "thanks for everything." I said softly. Oh my, I was in a very, very bad predicament.
"you're welcome. You should go to bed soon. It's late." he said. I glanced at the bed side clock. It was already 1am. Time flew by. "I will. I just wanna shower first." I said. I gave Landon a kiss on the cheek and slid out of his arms.
I began to get my clothes ready when my phone rang. I furrowed my eyebrows. Who could be calling me this late. I fished out my phone from my purse and answered an unfamiliar number.
"hello?" I said, waiting for a response. "oh glad you're not sleeping. It's me Scarlet." scarlet said in a still perky voice. "oh hey. What's up?" I didn't even try to match her perkiness. "I forgot to tell to you that there's gonna be a little get together at my place tomorrow at 12. Can you make it?" she said in a hopeful way. "yea sure. My flight isn't till later on that night." I said. Though I didn't really wanna go. But I knew I had to, I didn't want to offend her. "great! It's just a small party." she said and gave me her address. We hung up and I explained to Landon about the party. He seemed too tired to respond.
I took a quick shower and found a crashed out Landon on the bed. I was glad that he was asleep, I didn't feel like talking. I silently made my way to the living room and sat at one of the couches. I pulled on my ear phones and listened to my iPod. I listened to Greensleeves. It made me calm. It always did. Before I knew it, I was sound asleep.
[dream]
I was in a wedding gown. One like scarlet's. I stood behind the doors that led into a church. I opened the door and walked down the aisle confused. The church was empty and dark. I kept walking toward the pew and then Landon came out with Sebastian and they grinned deviously. I suddenly felt scared. I tried to turn around and run but I couldn't get my feet moving. I felt paralyzed. The boys laughed at my struggle and crept closer to me. They stood each at my sides laughing. "marry him jayla. Come on. You want him" Sebastian said and laughed. "no she wants you. Marry him jayla. You want him." Landon grinned and laughed menacing. I tried to scream but couldn't.
[end dream]
I woke up stiff from sleeping on the tiny couch. It was sunny and I felt like crap. Physically and emotionally. I'd have to pretend nothing was wrong because I didn't want to upset anyone. I was a people pleaser and I couldn't fix it.
"hey you. Slept good?" Landon said. He seemed okay. But I knew he wasn't. "hey. No I accidentally fell asleep on the couch. I feel stiff." I stood and stretched. "I see. Want a massage?" he grinned. "I might take You up on that offer but we have a gathering to go to at 12."I said. "full body?" he grinned. "you wish." I laughed and headed toward the bathroom to shower.
After drying my hair, I slipped on blue and black floral sun dress and black wedges. Landon wore shorts and a graphic tee with green Ray Bans. He looked like he was modeling the glasses. He smiled at me cause he noticed me staring at him. "need a pair? I've got extras." he said. "did you bring all 5000 of em?" I laughed. "no. Just 10." he smiled and walked to his luggage to pull out a black case. It looked like a brief case. He opened it and two rows of five different colored Ray Bans were aligned perfectly. "just the colors I thought I may need." he grinned. "wow. You need help with your addiction." I smiled. I grabbed the white ones. "hey I am a collector no an addict." he closed the case and stood. He took the glasses from me and wiped them clean and placed them on my face. "why thank you mr. Harrison." I smiled. "you're welcome my dear. Let's go get some breakfast." he smiled and gave me a kiss. Not his usual kiss, it was different. Like he wanted me to know it was him an no one else. He then broke the kiss and smiled. "let's go." he said and took my hand in his.
