"Kol, we need to leave now." You called from the bathroom applying the last coat of lipstick.

You heard a grunt and walked back into your bedroom.

"This damn tie!"

Smiling you sashayed to Kol. You took the tie from his hands and began to tie his tie.

"You're nervous aren't you?"

Kol didn't respond

"My parents will love you. You have nothing to worry about"

Your words seem to reassure Kol and you two both left, with flowers for your mum and a box of premium Cuban cigars for your dad. Kol took your hand and you two walked up the path to your home and knocked on the door. Your dad opened the door.

"Y/N!" Your dad said smiling.

"Hi dad"

"Good evening Mr.Y/L/N" Kol said with a smile.

"Kol" he replied curtly.

Sensing the awkwardness you lead Kol inside. You both took your shoes off and went into the living room, where you mum was sitting.

"You must be Kol," your mum said with a smile

"Yes, Y/N never told me she had a sister"

You and your mum burst out laughing, your dad, however, didn't look amused. Kol gave your mum her flowers and your dad his cigars. The stony exterior he tried so hard to keep melted away for a second but returned when your mum told you all to go to the dining room. Kol was on one end of the table while your dad was on the other and you and your mum were seated opposite each other.

"I made steak. Y/N I know it's your favourite"

You smiled.

"You still haven't sent me the recipe"

"I'll give it to you after dessert"

You took a piece of steak, some potatoes, some vegetables and gravy.

"Kol honey, don't you want some greens?"

"Erm, yes I was just about to ask"

Your dad lifted up the plate and passed it across the table.

"So Y/N how's work going? Have you been promoted yet?"

"Uhm not yet."

"Hmm, you'll remember that Y/S/N got her managerial promotion"

"Yeah I do dad"

"If I may, Y/N has been working hard to juggle law school and work. If her sister did get a promotion it would be after she had finished school, which is hardly fair to judge her on. Also by the way she has been working she will see manager in a very short time"

Silence settled over the table. You shot Kol a smile. Once dinner had finished your dad offered Kol a cigar.

"I presume you smoke?"

"Not all the time, if the occasion calls for it."

"Outside boys" your mum said sternly.

Kol and your dad went outside and your mum went into the kitchen with some dishes.

"I love you Kol, thank you" you said knowing full well he heard, before proceeding to help your mum.

-Kol's interview-

"So Kol, tell me what you do."

Kol gulped. He didn't work, compulsion and the fortune he had amassed over the years were more than enough.

"I, uh, work alongside my brothers. We took over my fathers business"

"So you didn't have to work for it?"

Kol laughed awkwardly.

"Well, I had to get a degree or better if I wanted my 33%, so I got a degree in medicine"

"So why didn't you become a doctor?"

"My father's dream was for his sons to continue on his legacy and that's what were doing"

Kol took a drag of his cigar.

"You know, if I have to give you props for one thing, you know your cigars."

"Thank you. I have to thank you for raising Y/N, she is the best thing that's happened to me. I don't know what I would do if I was left without her."

Your dad smiled

"My way of accepting that is to give you my blessing. I saw the way you stood up for her at dinner, none of the others did that. The way you talk about her too, I can tell you won't mess her around. If you do, I'll end your life."

Kol laughed.

"You won't be able to."

"Pardon?"

"What I mean, is I won't present you with the opportunity to"

"Right, well let's go inside. There is apple pie and ice cream for dessert"

You bought the trays of apple pie into the living room. Your dad and Kol were deeply engrossed in a conversation about engines and your mum was reading a magazine. You gave everyone their plates before sitting down and eating your own.

"This is the best apple pie I've tasted Mrs.Y/L/N. It beats my own mums"

"Oh Kol, please, call me Y/M/N. But thank you, that means a lot."

You looked at Kol and how he was with your parents, it meant the world to you that Kol was trying to make an effort.

It got late so you and Kol left. As you were walking down the path, to you car you dad yelled.

"Night Kol, Night Y/N. Drive safe"

You looked up to see the hugest smile on Kols face.

"I told you so, they love you."

"What can I say, I'm a pretty likeable person"

"Aand arrogant Kol is back ladies and gentlemen"

You and Kol laughed before getting into the car and driving home.

"I don't think I told you this, but I'm really proud of you," You said getting into your bed.

"I know you we're apprehensive at first and you didn't want my parents to hate you or anything-"

"I knew how much it meant to you, having us get along. You forget I'd do anything for you" Kol said cutting you off and pulling you closer to him.

"I always remember. Night Mikaelson"

"Good night soon-to-be-Mikaelson"
