I laid down on my bed and sighed. I guess Hadley was right. I really should stop worrying and just lighten up a little. I hadn't been camping in a while and as a kid it was always one of my favorite things to do in the summer. Plus, it was supposed to be really good weather when we were set to go next week so that was good. Maybe spending several days out in the woods would be fun, and I was going with my best friend so I really didn't have anything to worry about. On the other hand though, everyone there that didn't know us would probably make stupid comments about Hadley and I being together. I sighed again. Oh well. I flipped the covers back, pulled off my shirt and settled in for the night.

The next morning I woke up at the early time of 10:30. I tended to really sleep in on the weekends. I ran a hand through my dark brown hair and let my arm rest above my head on the pillow. I was in no hurry to get up.

Suddenly the smell of bacon drifted into my nostrils and my eyes shot back open. Yes! Apparently my mom was making breakfast today! I tumbled out of the bed and wiped at my eyes before making my way to the bathroom across the hall. I took in my bed head and tired eyes. Yikes! I would definitely be fixing my hair before making an appearance downstairs. I took a leak, then brushed my teeth before wetting my hair down and fixing it and then I was off.

"Hey good morning Griffin. Breakfast is almost ready," said my mom as she looked over her shoulder at me from the stove.

"Morning Mom. It smells delicious," I told her. I went over to the fridge and got out the milk and then grabbed a glass out of the nearby cabinet. After pouring myself some milk I returned it to the fridge before sitting in a chair at the dining table.

"So are you excited for Monday?" My mom asked as she set a plate of bacon and eggs in front of me.

"Thanks. Er, I don't know. I have no idea who's all going to be there," I said as I grabbed my fork, ready to dig in.

"I'm sure it will be just fine," she replied, taking her seat opposite of me at the table.

"Yeah. Where's Gracie?" I asked. I spoke too soon though because at that moment I heard my younger sister coming. She entered the kitchen rubbing her eyes, her blonde hair all ratted and sticking up. My mom and I chuckled slightly at her.

She plopped down in the chair next to my mom, looking sleepy-eyed at the plate in front of her. I grabbed the bottle of ketchup sitting next to my plate and shook it before squeezing some onto my eggs. It was the only way I could stand eating scrambled eggs.

"I wish I got the whole next week off," mumbled Gracie between bites. "Instead I still have school."

"It's not that bad. School will be out soon for you," I told her. She just looked at me before returning to her food.

"Where's Dad at? Work again?" Gracie asked, looking over at my mom.

"Yeah, he should be home this afternoon," Mom said.

"Oh alright. Well I'm going to the movies in a little bit with Ronan. He said he'd pick me up." Ronan was Gracie's boyfriend. They were both 18 and had been together for a year now I think.

"Oh? What movie are you going to see?" Mom asked. I just kept eating, not really interested in their conversation.

"We haven't decided yet," Gracie said. "Do you have any suggestions Griffin? I think you've seen most of the movies out recently."

"Uh..I don't know. Whatever you wanna watch," I said. My thoughts were still on the camping trip. As much as I tried to tell myself that worrying about it was only going to make me miserable, I couldn't help it.

"Well you're a lot of help. When are you going to go out with a girl anyway?" Gracie replied. I furrowed my eyebrows at her.

"Why do you care? Dating isn't really my thing right now," I said. She gave me a weird look.

"You must be one of the only guys I know who isn't wanting to date," she scoffed.

"Hey! Gracie, if Griffin would rather focus on finishing school and hanging out with friends there's nothing wrong with that. Everyone does things differently, you know that," Mom interjected. I rolled my eyes.

"I was just saying," Gracie said, shrugging. "Whatever."

"Thanks for breakfast," I told my mom as I stood up. I took my plate over to the sink while my mother and sister continued talking. I rinsed it out before putting it in the dishwasher. I stood there for a minute, staring out the window at the bright morning sun. Dammit Hadley, you know how much I hate unknown situations with lots of people. I don't like crowds.

I headed back upstairs to the bathroom to take a hot shower. My two favorite activities were sleeping and showering. I closed the door behind me, kicked off my shorts and slid out of my grey boxer briefs. I turned the nozzle so that the water was warm before I stepped under the spray, letting it fall over me. I ran my fingers through my damp hair before grabbing the shampoo bottle and squirting some into my hand. I massaged my scalp really good before rinsing it out and then going for the soap, lathering myself up.

By the time I stepped out of the shower I had been in there for almost 20 minutes. The whole bathroom was misty and the mirror was completely fogged up. I wrapped a towel around my waist and then crossed the hall back into my bedroom, closing the door behind me. In my closet I found a simple black shirt with some dark blue joggers and quickly slipped into the clothes, making sure to put on a fresh pair of grey undies. My phone started vibrating from where I left it on my bedside table.

"Hello," I said as I placed it to my ear.

"Hiya! What are you up to today?" Hadley sang loudly into my ear. I laughed.

"Nothing really, no plans," I told her.

"Well come pick me up! We need to go shopping!"

"Shopping? Why do we need to go shopping?" I asked, wrinkling my nose even though she couldn't see it.

"For the trip, duh! We need food and whatever else you need to get," she said jokingly. I slapped my forehead.

"Oh, right. I'll be over in ten," I told her.

"Sounds good!" She replied before hanging up. I shook my head and smiled. Hadley was determined to have fun on this trip. I might as well just go with it for her sake.
