Gracie came around the corner from the garage and stepped into view, her arm outstretched behind her. A guys hand was holding hers, and my eyes followed up from looking at their joined fingers to his face. Ronan was a good looking guy, with blonde hair that was about the same color as my sisters, his green eyes shining brightly in the  light. He was a pretty slim guy and his face was clean shaven, that is if he could even grow any facial hair. The thought of facial hair brought my hand up to my own face, feeling the dark stubble that covered it. My thoughts raced to Tyce, his beautiful face completely filling my consciousness. His light brown eyes glistening in the sunshine, his gorgeous smile stopping me dead in my tracks, and his dark brown almost black hair on his head that matched his facial hair, making his eyes and smile stand out even more.

"Griffin this is Ronan," my sister was saying, as I blinked.

"Griffin you're being rude!" My mom scolded as I shook my head, clearing out the daydream.

"Huh?" I stupidly uttered as my eyes focusing on the four people who were all looking at me as if I had gone crazy. Gracie snapped her fingers.

"Hello? Anyone in there?" She asked sarcastically, causing me to frown at her.

"Sorry,  I was just, er..whatever," I said quickly, looking over at Griffin. "It's nice to put a face to the name," I told Ronan as I looked between him and my sister. He smiled nervously and I gave him a small smile back, letting him know I wouldn't bite. Unless it was necessary of course as the protective older brother.

"Yeah you too," he replied shyly, "Thanks for letting me come over," he told us, mainly looking at my parents as he said it.

"Of course! We're glad to have you," My mom said, waving her hands animatedly. "Dinner will be ready in a bit."

"Yeah I hope you like steak," my dad said, chuckling.

"Of course sir," Ronan wisely replied. I suddenly wondered if he really did like steak or if he was just trying to appease my dad because I couldn't really tell.

"Well, I'm going to show Ronan around a little," Gracie said.

"Okay we'll let you know when dinner is ready," Mom replied. With that, Ronan and my sister went upstairs to her room and I didn't even want to think about the possible things they might be doing up there.

A little while later we all sat down at the table with our plates full of food. The meal looked absolutely delicious, with steak and mashed potatoes, salad, and rolls. This was probably the biggest thing I had missed about being away from home: the nice meals and being cooked for.

As I looked around the table at my mom and dad, then my sister and her boyfriend, I couldn't help but imagine what it would be like to bring a possible boyfriend over for a family dinner. I pictured Tyce sitting here charming my parents to death, and wondered if maybe that could ever happen in the future. My dad sat on one end of the table with my mom at the other and Ronan and Gracie across from me. I had a lonely chair to my left that perfectly illustrated my singleness right now.

"So are you looking forward to college Ronan?" My dad asked as everyone's forks started clanking against their plates. Ronan nodded.

"Yeah definitely. It's nice to move on to the next thing you know?" He added. He and my sister had just graduated from high school.

"I felt that way too until the next thing gets tiring," I chimed in. My voice had an edge to it that I didn't intend on. Ronan flinched a little as my mom furrowed her brow at me and Gracie shot me a look across the table.  "I mean it's great," I back-pedaled. "It's definitely different but also similar is all I'm saying." My mom's face softened and Gracie visibly relaxed. As she looked down at her plate she cleared her throat.
