Slowly, I propped myself up on and elbow and looked around blindly, waiting for my vision to come back. When it returned, I almost wished it hadn't.

Daniel had slid many feet away and was sitting on the curb, watching me with wary eyes. There were bloody scratches on his face and his hands were practically ripping his hair out. My throat tightened as I looked at the pain on his face.

"Daniel," I choked out and he flinched. "What happened?"

"I should've known," he muttered to himself.

"Should've known what?" I asked. His eyes widened when he realized that I had heard him, and then he shook his head and dropped his gaze.

"When you said that you were the seventh daughter of your siblings, and then Sam was mesmerized with you, I should've realized what you were."

"What am I?" I sat up and slowly crawled over to him. He leaned forward and grabbed the tops of my arms when I close enough and pulled me the rest of the way. Then he enfolded me in a hug and crushed me against his chest, laughing nervously.

"You're the seventh child of the seventh child, aren't you?"

"Yeah, but so is my dad. What does that have to do with anything?"

"That means that you're destined to be a succubus."

"A what?"

"An immortal female who feeds on lust and desire."

"How would you know this?" I pushed against his chest and looked up at his face. He laughed and pinched some of my hair before twirling it around his fingers.

"No need to be so defensive, Ana. I know this because I'm an incubus."

"Let me guess- the same thing as me only a male version?"

"Exactly," he chuckled and stared into my eyes. "That's why I started acting weird right before you became immortal. I felt your need for me and was shocked at how powerful it was."

"Oh."

A smile tugged at the corners of his lips and he leaned his forehead against mine. My eyes closed and I relaxed into his arms. His breath brushed across my face and it smelled sweet, causing me to tense in shock.

"What?" He asked me, not pulling back.

"Your breath smells like candy or something else that's sweet."

"Oh, yeah that's a side effect of being immortal."

"Huh, well that's interesting."

He chuckled then sighed and stood up, pulling me with him. We headed to his car and I climbed into the cab of his truck through the driver door and across to the  passenger seat, smiling up at his confused expression.

"You're stuck with me, so deal with it."

Rolling his eyes, he shut the door after climbing in himself. Then he turned the key and the engine stalled making me groan. He looked at me questioningly and I laughed quietly.

"This is what happened to my car this morning. It refused to start," I explained and leaned my head against the headrest, closing my eyes.

"I guess you just carry the bad luck around with you."

I grunted in agreement and he tried the key again, and this time it caught. Opening one eye slightly, I peeked at him and found him watching me, one arm draped over the steering wheel.

"What?" I asked, closing my eye again.

"Oh nothing, it's just that the way you said that I was stuck with you, it seemed as though you thought I didn't want to be around you anymore."

"Well I am different now than I was before."

"You only changed from mortal to immortal- everything else is the same."

"Then why is everything different between us?" I turned and leaned my back against the car door and looked him questioningly.

"What do you mean?"

"Before, you barely touched me and didn't want anything more than friends. I could tell by your behavior. But then, right after I changed, you smothered me in a hug and were playing with my hair. That's not exactly friends-only behavior, Daniel."

His eyebrows rose and he stared at me for a moment, then he blinked and his face went back to normal. "Ana, don't you realize that I can't get rid of you?"

"What?"

"We are the same species," He reached across the space and placed his palm against my cheek, his fingers reaching backwards into my hair. On account of itself, my head leaned into his hand and my hand rose to cover his. "Therefore we couldn't be any better for each other."

"So what about before, when I wasn't immortal?"

"I didn't want to hurt you so I only wanted to remain friends. And trust me, that was extremely hard to do. You had me mesmerized from last night. I couldn't stop thinking about you."

I just looked at him, his eyes pleading for me to understand and slowly I nodded. A relieved smile spread across his face. He pulled his hand from my face reluctantly, and backed the car out of the parking spot. As we drove out of the lot and onto the street, I glimpsed Sam standing outside the theater doors, fuming, but his eyes were filled with pain.

"He'll forget about you," Daniel said glancing at me.

"But how long do I have to put up with him?"

"If you avoid him, then it'll happen sooner."

"Good thing it's summer vacation, right?" I joked and tried to smile, but it probably looked more like a grimace. He laughed and sped off for Route 20, heading east.

We rode in silence for a few minutes, listening to the radio, until my stomach started to burn. It was a strange feeling- instead of grumbling to tell me I was hungry, it burned painfully. I moaned, clutched my stomach and leaned forward, resting my forehead on the dashboard as I squeezed my eyes shut and clamped my lips together. Daniel put a hand on my back and started muttering to himself. The car lurched forward and I was slammed back against the seat. My eyes opened in shock and I realized that we were in Fayette.

"Where are we going?" I asked through my gritted teeth.

"Skye Cinema."

"Why?"

"You know how I told you that we feed on lust and desire? Well I found that the best place to feed is in theaters because many kids nowadays make-out in the backs of theaters instead of watching the movie."

"Why couldn't we just go back into the cinema that I work at?"

"Two reasons. First, Sam was there. Second, I told your co-worker that you didn't feel good and were going home."

I grunted, not sure whether I was relieved over the fact that I was soon going to be out of my pain, or if I was disgusted at feeding off of these kids' emotions. It sounded kind of like cannibalism, and that scared me more than anything. After about another half hour, we arrived in front of the movie theater. Daniel half-dragged, half-carried me into the building, bought us tickets to a movie and walked us to into the theater.
