I heard a noise from behind me. "You can't stop me. I'm doing this. You can't stop me." I said as I threw my bag behind my back, and grabbed my sword and put it into its sheath. I knew who was behind me. It was probably Griffin. Seeing how I was going.
But you know what?
I'm fine. I just need to run away from GriffinBlaze and back into the forest. "You can't run away from Areea." Another voice said. This voice wasn't Griffins.
This surprised me.
"What do you care, Adam?" I snapped, and turned my head to look at him. Adam shrugged, "You're more important than you take yourself for." He said. "No der. I'm wanted by Areea village. Big whup." I said, and shoved my way past him and began down the hall. Adam followed me. "You're the girl that ran away from Areea village when she was twelve..." He said. "I thought I knew you from somewhere." He said. I looked at him in confusion. "How do you know that? By the looks of it, you're about my age." I said. Adam chuckled, "I'm older than you'd take me for." He said. I looked at him in confusion, and shook my head before climbing back down the ladder. Adam followed behind me.
Griffin and Nikki were talking about something quietly near the doorway. They both had a bag over their shoulders, I looked at them in confusion. "What's going on?" I asked. Griffin looked at me, then at Nikki. "Surprise!" Nikki said perkily. "We're coming with you." Griffin said. Adam stiffened behind me. "You can't be serious, Griffin." He said. Griffin nodded, "I'm serious Adam. Now, if you can, please just shut it. Zara's going to be handling the village until we get back." Griffin said.
"Who's Zara?" I asked. "She's one of the guards. She ranks after Nikki." Adam explained. Then he narrowed his gaze at Griffin. "But I still don't understand. Why do I have to go with?" He asked with an edge to his voice. Griffin narrowed his gaze, "You're my second in command... plus you're stronger than me." Griffin muttered this as if he hated to admit it. Adam smirked, "Well. That's the first." He said. I looked at him, then looked at Griffin.
"I still don't understand why at least Nikki can stay behind." Adam said. Griffin narrowed his eyes, "Be quiet, and follow oders." He said. Adam rolled his eyes. "Whatever." He muttered.
I sighed and looked up at Griffin. "Why are you coming with me exactly?" I asked.
"You need protection. We're the ones to do this." Nikki smiled brightly. "But why? You barely.know me." I say. "Because... thats what friends do." Griffin smiled. "Were friends?" I asked. "Well... we did give you a disguise." Nikki chuckled "We care for you Iz." She added.
"Okay. Well two of us do." Griffin nodded at Adam, who glared at Griffin. "I care for her protection as well Griffin. Dont think any different." Adam mumbled. I looked at him, surprised. Adam looked down at me, then back up at Griffin. "When do we leave?" He asked.
"I thought you didnt want to go."
"Well... I changed my mind."
"Fine. Around midnight tonight. We'll make a camp just outside the town."
"Do we have horses?" I asked. Griffin nodded "We have a stable filled with em." He smiled. "Can you ride a horse?" He asked. "Youre looking at someone who has tamed horses before." I tell him. Griffin nods, and looks outside. "I'll call you when its time. Go get some rest." He smiles at us. I nod at him and walk upstairs. I throw my stuff to the ground in my room and head over to the balcony. I sigh and stare at the village, and at the sky. It was sunset. It was very pretty, the village was settling down for the night... the first stars were lit. I sighed, relaxed.
"Beautiful isnt it?" Someone asked.
"Yeah."
"Do you know why I care for you like I do?" The person asked and walked up beside me. I looked at Adam. "I'm talking to someone who was giving the cold shoulder when I first came here?" I laughed. "You dont care. Youre just following orders." I tell him.
Adam shakes his head. "I've known you since you were little." He says. This grabs my attention.
"You didnt see me, but I was always there protecting you until you turned seventeen and I came here." He motions to GriffinBlaze. "I remember when you were turning fifteen you went out into the woods and caught your first stag." He says.
"So you've been stalking me?" I ask. Honestly thats what it sounds like. "Haha! No! I was your sworn protector... And if I may ask... why do you reject your father as your father?" Adam asks.
"He rejected me..
and my mother. It was only fair. He went and got another girl pregnant and it angered both my mother and I. He used to be so loyal... then he just seemed different..." I mumbled. "I domt even know my little sister or brother. I ran off before I could meet him or her. But... Xander's wife that wasnt rejected... All I remember is the fact that she came to visit us at guard training with her baby... but I avoided looking. Avoided her..." I glare at the ground. "Next thing I know... she'd dead. Along with my real mother..." I mumble. Adam does what I never thought he'd do.He doesn't kiss me...
He hugs me....
Close enough.
"A-adam?!" I ask, and stare at him, shocked. Adam releases me from the hug and shrugs. "You got to mixed with emotions... you looked like you needed a hug..." He shrugs. "I like this version of Adam." I smile.
Adam chuckles. I look up at the sky. "My turn for a question..." I say. Adam looks at me with a curious look. "What may that be?" He asks. "What... what are you?" I ask.
He clenches his jaw.
"You dont want to know..." He mutters.
"But I do!" I say. "You know. That sounds a lot like a wedding vow..." Adam smirks. "Ah, shut up!" I slap his shoulder playfully and he chuckles.
"Okay..." He says. "You want a life story or just a simple answer?"
"Whichever one is quicker."
"I'm a Shadow Knight..." Adam says, and looks from me to out over to the village. A row of stars has already shown, the sun has completly gone down. The only light we have now is from the stars, and a few torches and lamps.
"How?" I ask.
"I knew you would ask that..." He sighs. "Several years ago... Maybe.... thirty years ago... My friend and I were drawn to the nether. We were not sure why. But we were suppost to go there to do something for the Lord of our village...
"I forgot what really happened... But the Shadow Knight there, Zenix, told me that my friend had 'accidentally' pushed me into the lava.
"I beleived him then... and he sent me out to kill my friend...
"Worst part is... I loved her... more than a friend...." He mumbles. I frown as I look at him.
"I killed her... and soon... I got the eyes of a killer. One that is hated. A Shadow Knight." He emds his story. "Oh... so... why did you protect me?" I ask. "Because... you have a great potential." He says.
I yawn and lean my head on his shoulder. "Tiered?" Adam asks. I nod. Adam leads me to a wall on the balcony. He sits me down, and sits next to me. I rest my head on his shoulder, and he wraps his arm around my shoulder. "Comfortable?" He asks. I nod. "You've had a long day. You'd probably be comfortable sleeping anywhere." He says. I laugh a tiered laugh. "That actually might be true." I yawn and close my eyes. "Go to sleep, Izzy." Adam whispers.
Thats when I fall asleep
