Chapter Twenty

Isma's POV

The blood froze in my veins. I looked into my father's green eyes. He looked horrified.

I didn't recieve a relic of a bracelet. I just watched the scene play out. But I was like my father in many ways.

I could sense the magicks shift in the area we were in. And suddelnly my dad, Travis, was in his more demonic form.

And so was I.

Unlike Travis, who got purple-gray skin and purple eyes. I got red-gray skin and purple eyes. But the horns were pretty much the same. Lucinda stared ahead of us with narrowed eyes. Travis clenched his jaw. I turned around.

Those who had recieved relics were in another form. Isolde, having Irene's relic, had the silver wings and the icy sword. Laurance was full Shadow Knight, he glared. And Griffin... He looked like a cross between Esmund's form and a Shadow Knight. Most of it was Esmund, but he had the red eyes of a Shadow Knight.

Anna and Adam were both in their Shadow Knight armor, and Anna got the red eyes. The Jordan girl's form barely changed, she only recieved red eyes... I mean, one her descendants was Vlad so...

The others without relics couldn't see the Demon Warlock. They just looked at us with a confused expression.

"I see my granddaughter's horns have grown... Ah! And my son's as well!" The Demon Warlock says and looks at Travis and I. We glare at him.

"Why are you here?" Lucinda asks. "Oh! I didn't want to miss the party... After all... I need my pet back." The warlock says and swoops back over to Griffin. "The sacred griffin is my help for protecting the forest. Xe isn't your pet." Lucinda says. The warlock seems to get the diamond sword in his grasp from Griffin. "Ah. But it is." He says. I grind my teeth together

"But it seems like I can't release it from it's prison. What a shame..." The warlock forcefully throws the shield back at Griffin. "I'll be back once it's released. And Travis, Isma. Keep growing your horns out." With that the warlock disappears and the magicks returns to normal. Everyone is still in their other forms.

They looked surprised. "We should go." Travis whispers. I give him a hug before he disappears. Katelyn glared at Lucinda before disappearing as well.

I watch them, and stare at the sky for a while.

Most of the others here have disappeared. The Jury members have disappeared. And soon, we're left with Isolde, Nikki, Griffin, and Adam.

"What's this about a griffin?" Isolde asks Griffin. "Uh... Lucinda... are you going to let xyr out or no?" He asks. Lucinda nods and motions for us to follow her. We climb the ladder, and Lucinda grabs Griffin's shield and places it down on a table.

She smiles and places her hand on the seal. Everyone watches in awe as she says some foreign words and the seal seems to grow until the whole shield is in the shape of a griffin.

Lucinda walks backwards, continuing her foreign word chant. The diamond slowly turns to flesh. The chest begins to move slowly as if it were breathing.

It moves its legs under its body and is now laying on the table.

Then it opens it's red eyes.

Xe lets out a large cry, xyr eyes like slits.

I widen my eyed and walk over to my mom who's finished.

She smiles. "Nokota. Nice to see you again." She says. The griffin screeches xyr reply.

Lucinda frowns, "We need another shield for Griffin." She says. Nokota nods, and glances around. Xe looks at Lucinda for a bit. "Right..." Lucinda grabs a potion and throws it at Nokota who becomes as small as Bigglesworth. Lucinda lets xyr out of the house and throws a grow potion on xyr.

Xe glances back and Griffin sighs as it goes back up into the sky.

"So, what shall we do now?" Adam asks, staring at where the griffin disappeared. "Well, we have two choices: Return to Griffinblaze and have Isolde stay in the Jury or run away." Griffin said. "Plus, I need a shield."

"Well, Nokota should return with a new shield for Griffin." I told them. Nokota isn't really a griffin though... He's more of a spirit, I guess you can call it. My brother, he died and when he died my brother kind of turned his spirit into a griffin... Yeah, it's quite confusing. A griffin is my brother, weird right? So, in truth, Nokota is my brother who is a griffin and he is.... alive in one way, kinda.

But anyways, you may be wondering how Nokota was trapped in the shield.

Well, the reason for that is because of healing. The only way to heal xyr was to put xyr in a shield. But I'm still not sure how the shield came to Griffin's possession.

And somehow turning my brother's spirit into a griffin made him change to be agender...

I still don't understand it, but Lucinda does. My mom understands everything... most of the time.

"So it's settled then?" Nikki asks. "Wait? What? What's settled?" I ask, lost from my thoughts. "We're not going straight back to Griffinblaze, we're going to go to Siani." Griffin explained. Lucinda sighed, "I wouldn't recommend you going there." She muttered. "Why not?" Isolde asked.

"Because, your father has over taken the village-- the guards will simply just send you back to Griffinblaze." Lucinda tells us. "I knew he hasn't changed... do you know if he's taken over GriffinBlaze?" Isolde asked, looking at Lucinda. "He hasn't but something tells me that that is his next target, you all need to get to your village ASAP." Lucinda told them. Just as she said this, a small blue guide fairy appeared, and Lucinda gave Isolde a sugar cube. Isolde placed the sugar cube in her flat palm, and the fairy eagerly ate it.

The fairy took off an the friends dashed after it. I smiled softly, and turned to Lucinda. "So, out of my walk to here with them, I found out that Griffin has plans to go to the nether." I told Lucinda. "Why would he go to the Nether?" Lucinda asked, looking at me. "I guess he has unfinished business there, but he said something about not coming after him." I told Lucinda. "And that he'll be leaving soon."

"Well, Isolde will be heartbroken." Lucinda said with a monotone voice. "But... she's dating Adam." I said, puzzled. "But you never notice how Isolde looks at Griffin?" Lucinda chuckle an amused chuckle. "Something will come where she'll have to choose... and if she chooses the wrong guy she's going to have a rough life." Lucinda turned away. "Now, if you will, go home. I have unfinished business here. I'll send Nakota to your place when he comes back with a shield for Griffin, and if I were him I'd not go to the nether until he has his sword back." Lucinda said. "But, it's his choice if he wants to die or not." Lucinda walked away, towards her potions and looked through them. "I'll see you soon, Isma." Lucinda said and I turned and walked down the stair case.

Lucinda was right... Isolde and Griffin did have something... but Isolde wasn't noticing... but Griffin obviously was.
