AN: Sorry for my absence from wattpad. I have had finals at school. Here's a little JohnDave for you as an apology.

Humanstuck and AU with no SBURB.

A piece of paper fell out of John's locker. He bent down and picked it up. He gasped. It was a letter.

Dear John,

Happy early Valentine's day.
I'm going to send you on a little hunt. Follow the clues to find me.

1. Your favorite tree, the willow, hides the second clue.

Find all the clues and meet me at the location on the last clue by eleven-thirty tonight.

Yours truly,
Your secret admirer

John smiled. This had never happened to him before and he was extremely excited to find out who it is. He threw his backpack over his shoulder and ran out the front door of the school and around the side. He spotted the willow tree and slowed down to walked through the hanging branches to the trunk.

Attached to a branch by red string was another piece of paper.

John,

Clue two.
Go to your favorite place to study in the afternoon for your third clue.

Your secret admirer.

The library! John ran to the bike rack in the front of the school to get his bike.

John walked through the door. A librarian walked up to him and handed him a third piece of paper. John thanks her and looked down at the paper.

Dear John,

Clue three.
Where you went during the summer as a kid, will produce the fourth clue.

Your secret admirer.

John was getting really excited. He ran out of the library and headed towards the park.

It took John a couple of minutes to find the next clue, but then he saw it. It was tied to the swing he always used as a kid. John was starting to go through the list of people who knew him the best because who else would know all this about him. He opened the note.

Love,

Clue four.
The next clue is in the place you spend the most time.

Your secret admirer.

John stood thinking. Where did he spend the most time? School? His room? He decided to go with the latter because it was closer to the park than the school and he was just a little bit lazy. Just a little bit.

John's dad confirmed his guess about the next clue. So he ran up the stairs to his room, ignoring all the pictures of the harlequins in the hallway. He really wished his dad would get rid of them, but he had better things to think about at the moment.

The note was on his bed.

John,

Clue five, and the final clue.
To find me go to the place you hid when you were sad. The place you made as a child to have as your own.

Your secret admirer.

John was confused at first but then he realized the note was talking about his tree house in the woods near his house. The tree house only three people knew about. Dave, Karkat, and Rose.

Be could rule out Rose as the secret admirer seeing as how she had Kanaya, but Dave and Karkat were both single as far as he knew. He was really excited now. He glanced down at his watch. It was almost six.

After eating supper, John went to his room, setting his alarm for eleven and stashing a flashlight under his pillow. He fell back on his bed and went to sleep.

Beep beep beep.

John groaned and sat up. Was it really eleven already? Oh crap it was eleven-fifteen. He grabbed his flashlight and crept out of the house. He ran down the street to the woods.

A few minutes later he was standing at the bottom of the tree that held his little sanctuary. He ascended the latter to see a blanket spread out on the floor of the little house and there in front of him sat his long time best friend, Dave Strider.

"Dave," John smiled at him timidly.

"Sup John?"

"So you're my secret admirer?"

"Yup."

Dave glanced down at his watch.

11:56

"You almost didn't make it in time," Dave said quietly.

"It took longer to get here than I thought it would. I'm sorry."

"That's okay. You made it in time for midnight. This is going to be really cheesy and uncool of me, but I'm going to do it anyway."

12:00

Dave wrapped his arms around John's waist and leaned in kissing John softly. John wrapped his arms around Dave's neck and kissed him back.

They pulled apart slowly. John had a soft smile on his lips and Dave's lips were a little bit more turned up at the corners than usual.

"Happy Valentine's John. I love you."

"Happy Valentine's day Dave. I love you too!"
