A battle of irreconcilable enemies

(Flashback)

"Chris, aren't you supposed to leave too?" I said when I noticed he still wasn't changing.

"Those two are still not here for the afternoon shift. Don't worry. You go on ahead. My university's nearby anyway. I can make it."

That's right. He goes to the same university as Nique.

I was about to leave when Chris caught my attention again.

"Alex, I forgot to tell you, Nique said you don't have to bother coming tonight."

"What do you mean?"

"She said "Kent was just being foolish when he set it up". I don't know man. Why? What's on for tonight? "he asked curiously.

"Nothing," I said and left.

It would have been nothing but it seems like it's not – since I'm back here in front of the café all dressed up.

It was Ben who first noticed me.

"You don't have a shift this afternoon, right?" he started then stopped when he finally noticed my outfit.

"Ohhhh," he muttered and left while giving me a meaningful look.

But it looks like she's still not here. And the café looks crowded today.

"Awww ~ ~ ~. You didn't have to come here to pick me up, you know?" I instantly turned towards the door when I heard her voice.

And I also knew, she immediately noticed me staring at her and her arms that were intertwined with a younger man's.

At first I didn't know what to think. But what I do know is, I felt my blood rising to my head. And without a second thought, I went straight to grab her arm – the one intertwined to his.

"We need to talk," I hissed close enough for her to hear.

She didn't respond but the young man she was with did.

"What do you think you are doing!?" he exclaimed and tried retrieving her hand from my grip.

"Hey kid," I threatened with all my might.

"Follow us and I swear I'll make sure you'll be sorry you did," I glared and half dragged her outside the café.

Nique was silent half the time. She'd either protest my grip is too strong, or I'm going too fast – but never asked where I was taking her. As for me, a million thoughts were running in my mind I didn't know where to begin.

"Get in!" I commanded and good thing she obliged. Once I got in the driver's seat, I could feel all my anger rising. All I could do was heave in frustration. I didn't like getting mad at girls, I didn't like yelling at them – it was one of the rules I go by. That's why I was trying my best to control it.

"You're dressed fairly well. Are you going on a date?" it was Nique that broke that rule. I felt myself snap.

"Was that supposed to be a joke?" I glared down at her.

"And is he the reason why you suddenly cancelled on that date Kent set up? I mean, what the hell! First I get ignored ... belittled ... and humiliated by you! And even got called a scum! Then I get intimidated while being threatened by one of your "watchdogs" in front of a lot of people and I get proposed to by that other "watchdogs" of yours!" I exploded with every word.
