That unforgettable scent of a nightfury led me to a den where there was smoke coming out the top. "What kind of human den has smoke coming out the top? I think to myself as I find a place close enough to see what they were doing and as I approached the scent became thicker. I stop to get an even better look inside. There inside was a man with no arm and no leg. He had a strange metal object in his flesh hand. A Deadly Natter held its mouth open as he gently hammered the metal into a hole. "Is that a metal tooth?" I pondered. Then a cheerful voice said "I told you it wouldn't hurt!" I look to the source of the voice and see the Nightfury comforting the Deadly Natter as it feels the metal with its tongue. I am at a loss for words as I stare at the smiling Nightfury. I haven't seen another Nightfury for over seventeen years. I could feel my cheek scales heating up slightly as I admire him "he looks cute!" I shake the thought as soon as it comes then look away "even if I think that... He ... Will never accept me".

By the time I look back up the Deadly Natter was gone and the Nightfury was standing between a young man and a older lady talking to the man in the den. "Hello Gobber" she says, but before I could hear what else they said I hear a dragon flying overhead. "What kind of dragon is that?!" I think whilst frantically trying to hide, "did it see me?" I say to myself. I turn to see it land beside the older lady who is still talking to Gobber, then looks at the Nightfury. As the Nightfury turns to talk with the strange owl-like dragon, we make eye contact. He smiles and comes running up to me..."not again!" I  scream in my mind and bolt in the opposite direction just in time to hear the young man yell "TOOTHLESS WHERE ARE YOU GOING, COME BAC-" then I can't hear him anymore. All I can hear are roars from the Nightfury pleading me to stop. "HEY WOULD YOU SLOW DOWN!" He roars frantically trying to catch up. I run faster and close my eyes then my feet can't feel the ground anymore "oh noooooo!" I try to fly to safety but I haven't got enough time left before I hit a large protruding rock. Something softened my fall to the ground and I slowly lose consciousness. I knew neither what or how this was possible.

"Mmm" I moan as I slowly open my eyes, my head throbbing. I pull my head up regardless and look around " w...where am I?" I say thinking I was likely to be alone.
"Your on Berk", a cheerful voice exclaimed. I turned towards the voice and see the Nightfury from before, happily swaying his tail from side to side. I jump in defence "WHO ARE YOU, HOW DID I GET HERE!!" Although I was clearly freaking out he slowly approached.  "STAY AWAY FROM ME!" I roar. He stops where he is, not moving a step further, "It's ok. Calm down. My name is Toothless. You're at my home! I asked you to slow down because you were running head on towards the side of the cliff. At your speed you wouldn't of been able to avoid the large boulders." He says this showing me genuine concern in his eyes for my safety.

I feel lightheaded and have to sit with my head raised. "W....you the one that saved me?" Toothless nods his head with a proud smile, and starts a list of inquiry, "OK, You know my name, what's yours?" ............. "Where are you from?" He asks whilst moving a little closer. The inquisitive dragon was getting far to close to my comfort zone...... So I snap back unexpectantly, "Why should I tell you?" His expression saddened and with loneliness in his eyes. " because...."I noted his voice quivered as if holding back these emotions. Finally he was able to respond after gathering himself. "You are the only Nightfury I have ever met. I have so many questions. I began to think maybe I may of been the only one left. And have no knowledge of where to find more of my kind"

Trying to Lightening the mood, with a renewed level of trust and compassion, I state "I'm from Up North"
Toothless responds to my change in mood by smiling even larger this time and tentatively edging forward towards me. But this time I feel less defensive. "I like your scales" He says in a purr, and upon hearing this my cheeks blush as dragon cheeks uniquely can warm. As my heart rate increases in a alarming way I state to myself "it's happening again, but stronger this time". Then I reply to Toothless, "U-ummm thank you" I mutter still not over what he just said.
