Alex's P.O.V.
Another boring day in hell, am I right? School was the same old thing: Class, learning, getting yelled at, homework, and stress. Nothing new.
I push the doors open while walking casually to the second floor before spotting Kim trudging down the hall like a zombie.
"Seems like someone really doesn't want to be here," I chuckled when I caught up to her.
"No shit. I could be at home sleeping right now!" We both laughed at her comment and continued walking together.
"How come you're still at school?" I asked quizzically.
"Brito thought it would be a good idea to have an after school conference. She and I have very different viewpoints of the words 'good idea',"
"I'll keep you company then," I smiled.
We made small talk until we reached Mrs. Brito's classroom. When Kim opened the door, the teacher's head popped up. She noticed me next to Kim and a creepy grin spread across her face.
"I'm feeling all kinds of uncomfortable right now," I whispered to Kim. She nodded in agreement.
"I guess I shall kill two birds with one stone," she hissed with delight.
My eyes widened as she began to transform into some gruesome creature with scales, a pale green complexion, and a snake-like form.
Kim gripped my hand and yanked me out the door.
"RAPE WHISTLE!" I yelled loudly while looking at the creature. My heart was beating a mile a minute, but everything played out in slow motion. My adrenaline the only thing keeping me from have a panic attack right then and there.
"I fucking KNEW that bitch wasn't human!" Kim yelled to no one in particular.
A loud screech echoed throughout the building as the abomination gained on us. That was the trigger that allowed my brain to snap back into function.
I squeezed Kim's hand before pushing the petal to the metal and using my prior track skills into saving our lives. You never really understand the statement, 'run like your life depends on it' until it actually does.
My breath and energy was running short; I didn't know how much longer my body would hold out until my heart and lungs burst. My brain went into autopilot while running, weaving through halls and stairs that I had been through everyday. Passing questioning Janitors and after school students who didn't seem to understand what the hell was going on.
Finally, the glass entry doors were in sight. I shoved them open and pulled Kim in front of me before the old hag broke through the glass, deadly shards falling like rain.
I flew backwards, preparing for impact of hitting the floor. It never came.
My eyes opened to an entirely new setting. A sunny, outdoor area with plenty of activities. It was buzzing with movement and noise. Kids passed nonchalantly wearing bright orange t-shirts, disregarding our arrival as if it was everyday occurrence.
We stared in awe of our situation and surroundings.
A hardy cough gripped my attention from the scenery. My gaze fell on a middle aged man. His smile was welcoming and normal, except for the detail that from his waist down he had a horse's body.
"wha--?" Kim started.
"Welcome to Camp Half-Blood. I am Chiron the centaur. I am the counselor here. You have been brought here because you are not entirely human,"
"Woah, woah, woah there, Sagittarius. You can't just have us magically show up here and then tell us we aren't human," I spat, angry and confused.
Chiron nodded.
"I understand your distress. Allow me to explain," he placed he hand out in motioning and took a breath before continuing. "You children are the result of the relationship of a God and a mortal. This makes you powerful being called demigods or simply, half-bloods," he pointed to the sign at the entrance of the camp. "You are half God, meaning that Greek monsters have made it their duty to kill you. Here, you shall be safe and taught to protect oneself from these creatures," He finished with a smile. "If you'll excuse me, I have business to attend to. Nico, would you please give these ladies a tour of the grounds, if you would," he stated.
"Nic--"
Before Kim could finish, a shaggy haired boy in all black stepped out from behind Chiron. We both flinched, a bit startled.
"Sure thing," he said lowly. His gaze fell in our direction. "Let's go," his head motioned to follow him and he began walking. Kim and I gave one look at each other before scrambling to catch up with the dark boy.
As we toured the camp, Kim's focus was glued to Nico. I could tell she found a fascination in him, but a romantic curiosity. I rolled my eyes playfully as we continued on.
