The books weren't even that interesting, but the man at the counter was.

He had chocolate brown hair that somehow managed to stay fluffy all day, and it was styled into an kind of emo fringe that seemed to suit his personality perfectly. The colour of his eyes were basically a carbon copy of his hair, and they seemed as if he could see into your soul with them.

Of course, it was a bookshop, so it was usually silent, but there was an occasional crash as the obviously butter-fingered boy dropped a box or a pile of books, and Phil found it super adorable how he always tried to muffle the curses that escaped his mouth.

Sometimes the nice lady who owned the shop would tell him off. It wasn't like she was that mad at him, though. After her halfhearted scolding, he'd always respond with a "Sorry, Ma'am"and she would always retaliate with a "Call me Sarah, Dan!"

It was like a routine, he dropped things so often. Phil would laugh, if it wasn't for the fact that he did embarrassing stuff even more than the brown haired boy.

His clothes reflected that perfect haircut of his, and one would assume that he went through some sort of alternative phase as a teen, as some aspects of the style were reflected in the way he dressed.

His ears had small, black earrings in them, and a single leather bracelet decorated his left wrist.

He always wore black skinny jeans and the uniform of the bookshop (which was a beige polo shirt with a green collar) on the top half of his body. A badge over his heart said, 'Daniel'.

Another part of his style were his shoes, which were quite noticeable.

Phil overheard the brunette explaining to a small, elderly lady (the one that owned the store) that they were 'black boots with lots of unconventional zips'.

She looked slightly bewildered - and whether it was from Dan's skyscraper height or from what he had told her, I don't think we'll ever know.

Anyway, Phil kept his small (okay huuuuuge) crush at bay, and simply admired from afar.

At least they sold manga. That was most definitely a positive in the situation.

The job wasn't even that interesting, but their tall man who frequently visited the store definitely was.

Dan needed a job, part time but still with good pay. Trying to manage his quickly growing YouTube channel and his financial life was difficult.

When he heard there was a job opening at the bookshop near him, he was overjoyed.

Dan's mum knew the little elderly lady who owned the shop, in fact they were close friends, so she pulled a couple of strings and landed her son a job.

The elderly lady absolutely adored Dan. She treated him like her own grandson.
He was such a polite gentleman, opening doors for her, offering to carry heavy things for her, and constantly calling her 'Ma'am' - until she practically begged him to call her Sarah.
