Chapter Thirteen

The next week, I had called my mom and asked if I could spend the day with them. My parents hadn't seen me in a couple weeks and Treyvon hasn't seen me in months because he was at college. My mom had told me that it was perfectly alright if I spent the day with them.

So I drove to my parents house and walked inside. My mom gave me a bear hug and my dad and Treyvon gave me gentler hugs. We went to the dining room and got out our game Aggravation. My mom and I were partners and my dad and Treyvon were partners.

Once we finished, we decided to watch a couple episodes of The Big Bang Theory. During that time, my dad ordered Chinese food. It got to the house and we ate in the dining room. As we ate, Treyvon asked me, "Where's Logan? Usually you're together all the time?"

"He had to work and coach today," I told him.

"How are things going with you two?" my dad asked.

"They're great. Trey, how were your last few months of school?"

"They were pretty good. I met this girl."

I squealed, "Is she your girlfriend? What's her name? How'd you two meet? How long have you been dating? When am I gonna meet her?"

The family laughed at me and Treyvon answered, "She's not my girlfriend yet. Her name is Lena. We met at one of the campus coffee shops in April. She spilled her coffee on me as she was leaving and I was walking in. Turns out she was in my History class. We've gone out a couple of times. And you'll meet her whenever I decide that I want you to meet her."

I stuck my tongue out at him and he did the same to me. Our parents just laughed at us and we continued eating.

The four of us spent the rest of the day together. At about ten o'clock, I asked my mom, "Would it be alright if I stayed here for the night?"

"Of course darling," she said with a soft smile.

I went up to my old room and looked around. I looked at all of the pictures I had of Kayla, Kinley, and I. I changed into some pajamas I had left here and chose Beautiful Creatures off of my bookshelf. I started reading and soon my mom came up to my room. She sat on the end of my bed and asked, "Has anything new happened Lay?"

I closed my book and told her, "Mama. Logan's friends with him."

My mom understood who I meant by "him" and told me, "How do you know?"

"Logan wanted me to meet his 'new friend' because he said we'd get along. So I told him I'd find a day when I was free. I was last week and we 'met'. It was so awkward, so I made up the excuse of Kayla having food cravings."

"Did he say anything to you?"

"He called me 'Lay' Mama," I told her choking up.

My mom pulled me into her arms and told me, "Darling, it'll hurt for a while. I remember my first broken heart. It'll take a long time."

I sighed and my mom and I fell asleep.

Sorry it's so short. I didn't want to have another time skip.

So my mom was in the hospital on Monday through Thursday. She's now home, but she's treating me like I'm the bad child. I'm really not! My boyfriend got hurt in his football game yesterday. But he should be able to play next week. Thank gosh he's okay.
