Shouting, screaming, sounds of battle, knifes against another. Fear ripped through Laura's body as she stumbles to get up. Ross reached for her hand, a tenacious grip on her wrist.

Laura didn't cry out, but wince as she hurried outside the door. "This way!" Ross yelled. And he jerked her hand, so hard that he could've broken it.

Laura had never experienced such a thing like this. She felt like she was blind, and wind ripped through the air, past her face, taking her conscious away from her.

She fought it. Her attention turns to Ross. He looks so determined, his lips pressed together, firm grip, raging eyes. His determination affected her and she looks forward, her eyes widened, and she sprinted.

She sprinted faster than Ross. She sprinted faster than the wind itself. But the battles behind them only grew nearer. Shrieks, metal clanking. Laura could almost taste the blood in her mouth.

Ross caught up to her, his gaze never breaking from their destination: to be safe. To outrun the rebels. "Your majesty!" Someone shouts behind them. It was not Jacob, it was not Raini, so Ross didn't hesitate; he continued.

Laura's breathing slowed. She was tired. She was slowing down. Her feet felt funny, all wobbly. Ross yelled, and then swung her over his shoulder like a bag.

She stared, wide-eyed, as the world spins before her. "I can go down myself!" She screamed over the sound. Ross either didn't hear her, or he ignored her. He never stopped running.

Laura felt useless. Her eyes welled. How could a person do this to her, when she broke his heart? How could he love her?

Laura tickled him. He flinched away from her touch, and set her back down. "Thanks," she said quietly. "Just run!" He shouts.

A hand was placed on Ross's shoulder. He cried out, suprised by the touch. And then, Laura was running alone. She never felt so afriad before, so small, her vision blurred by tears that rapidly flowed down.

She was on her own.

And for that moment, she doesn't have compassion. She swings at everyone who was near her, punches, kicks, scream to shatter their eardrums. She doesn't care.

They want to kill her, anyway, why not make the best of it?

Her body weighed a hundred pounds. She has a backpack on her back. So. Tired. Her feet burns. Her lungs dry. Exhausted. Sweat ran down her forehead, tickling her face. Her arms swinged violently besides her body, clenched into a tight fist.

Her pony tail slapped her face. Her legs felt like jelly, collapsing and then getting on track again. Soemthing swiped the back of her shirt. She screamed, and then kick.

The person groaned. It's Jacob. "You!" Laura gasped. Then, she realizes she had outran the rebels. She did it. "Yes me," Jacob breathes, clutching his ribs. "You did it," he congratulated her.

"I did," she felt like she'd accomplished nothing, not even a life or death situation. Ross was gone. Not necessarily, gone, but missing. "Where's Ross?" Laura asked, panic attacking her heart.

Jacob's face scrunched together. "Raini's finding him," his voice sounds far away.

And then everything went black.

~~~
"She's awake," a gruff voice whispered. Tried to whisper. Laura felt too weak to get up, to speak, to move. Her eyes were still closed. Where am I?.
Slowly, she opened her eyes. Wild fire welcomes her vision. Seriously, fire. Her eyes widened. Someone pulls her up, their arms under her pits. She said nothing, she didn't fight. Ross.
Laura felt heavy. The backpack. "Kill her," someone whispers. And then Laura heard knifes, sharp, ready to stab.
Laura wasn't sure of the pain started yet, but her vision was gone.
