My car moved over the highway, lights on full beam. I could feel the warmth. The car wheels floated in the air as we drove in a rapid motion.
The roaring winds twirled my long blond hair and whistled in her ears. He turned off the engine and directed me to enter the office.
"Good morning, sir," I reported.
"Good morning...please have a seat, " he responded.
The room was frigid. The air conditioner was facing towards me. I sat on the ergonomic chairs that helped me repose.
"I am Mr. Martin, your boss and manager of Hinley company," he carried on...
"Nice to meet you, sir," I answered
"Same here, anyways, you are appointed as an assistant manager in my company," he concluded and congratulated me...
I was idyllic with my job, but I had no one to share my infatuation with so, it made me serene.
After talking to my boss for an hour I returned home, in my personal cab. I was exhausted but I was delighted. I sent for my maid and asked her to come and cook something. She came and prepared sandwiches and fries. I ate and went off to sleep.
The next morning I had to go to my office. It was my first day and I was quite electrified. I wore a botton-down and blue cotton pants, my hair was drawn up tightly.
I was a reliant girl as I was totally blind. I just carried a walking-stick which guided me throughout my journeys.
My car arrived, I could merely hear the horn. I went downstairs and hopped into the car which drove me to my office. I was highly strung and exhilarated at the same time. I was lucky that I had the full support of my boss.
"Oh, here you are," I could hear martin call out...
"Hello sir, and good morning" I mumbled.
"Allow me introduce you to your colleagues, " he said with interest...
After I was introduced to quite a lot of my colleagues, I was asked to start my work. It was difficult at times to do my part of the job as my eyes didn't support me. I never used my eyes as an excuse, but honestly, I had a shortfall.
"Hey, newbie... I am Luke," he said likely
"Hello Luke, nice to meet you, I'm Naira" I articulated as I kept my bag on my desk...
"So where do you stay?" He asked
That was not a question that a person should inquire first. There are plenitude of other questions that could be quoted first...
"I am not supposed to answer that," I pronounced
"Well, not a big deal, that was a general question, never mind, talk to you later," he said in an unsettled tone....
I didn't react... I just kept numb and waited for him to move off. Truly speaking, I was not having a good time at work.
I was visited by the boss. He told me that I am supposed to work more with every passing day, and he left.
"Luke, guide the little fellow," Martin whispered to Luke....
Ugh...that could be so worse..
Luke came up to me and asked me to do some assignments from home. He handed over a bunch of files and papers and asked me to take them with me.
"Will I drop you at your place," he asked.
That was really polite but why was he so interested to know where I dwell. Was he trying to protect me or was he attempting to ruin me. I was surrounded by questions and ramifications.
"No, I can get home on my own," I said harshly....
I exited the office and hopped into my car. I was grossed out and helpless.
"Ma'am, someone is following your car..." the driver said.
"Stop the car.... see whether he stops behind us or not," I sounded out with utmost terror.
"Ma'am, I believe we lost the car... I can't see it anymore..." the driver muttered.
My blood ran cold, I struggled to see, well that was not my destiny.
