The Mexican Adventures of Rudy Man Issue #9: The soccer cup convention

"Okay Jorge I'll be back in a few days, I'm so excited! I get to finally go to the Soccer cup convention, I can't believe I won a ticket in a sweepstakes I don't remember taking" Rudy man said. "Well anyway, take care, there's food in the back and don't buy anything on the internet again! Bye!" Rudy man said taking off with a huge smile on his face. The convention Rudy was talking about was a yearly Soccer convention that fans of all teams could go and talk, buy merchandise and even meet some professional players, Rudy man never gets to go because the convention is never close buy and cost way too much. "What luck, first a free ticket and then it's just one town over, how can today get any better!" Rudy said speeding up.

Earlier in the month....

"I got it!!" Lord Darkheart yelled. "What is it lord Darkheart?" A goon asked. "What if we just attack Rudy man" He said. "Sir I think you may want to rethink that" he said. "Forget it! I'm going to watch some T.V." As Darkheart turned it on and began flipping through channels he saw an ad for the Soccer Cup Convention. "I got it!!!" Lord Darkheart said as he called a number in the phone. "Yes hello I would like one ticket.....mfm.....mfm......how much?!?! You money hungry savages!! He yelled. "No don't hang up!......I'll take two" he said. "Welp there goes your food money" He said to the goon. "You don't feed us....". "Yes! This plan will be perfect! Be ready Rudy man! For today I shall win! Ahahahah-!" Darkheart slipped on a cookie. "Goon" Darkheart called out. "Yes my lord?". "Remind me to cut the cookie goons pay". "You don't pay us either...." He said. Rudy finally reached the Convention and was ecstatic to meet all his fellow soccer fanatics and professional players. "I wish Jorge could be here with me" Rudy said. As he entered the convention he almost had a heart attack. "It's so amazing" he said tearing up. There was so much at the convention, from Isles of merchandise to soccer games and professional signings. "I'll take one of these and some of this and one of those and this and this and this-" Rudy was burning a whole so big through his wallet he no longer had one. In a matter of minutes, Rudy had soccer plushies,magazines,figurines and autographs, the only thing he was missing now was money. "What a great day this is" He said as people began hording around a game. Rudy went to look and saw people kicking a soccer ball into a circle and the the machine would say a number. With a mighty kick a man slammed it hard against the circle. "166" the machine said. The crowd cheered as the man took top spot. "Let me try" Rudy man said lining up. "Give it your best shot kid" The man said confident in his shot. Rudy lifted his leg up and in a second his leg and the ball were nothing but a blur as the ball ripped through the circle,machine and wall. Everyone stood shocked as the machine said it's last words "4-453". With a mighty cheer the people lifted Rudy up. "Hey your that superhero from Pas Rico City! It's Rudy man!" A man said as they began cheering for him. As Rudy's day couldn't get any better, he was rewarded #1 soccer fan and player of the convention. Just then he was challenged by a man wearing a hood. "A challenger has approached!!!" The crowd cheered. "Rudy man I challenge you! Not only for your title but for you pride!" The man said. "Your on!" Rudy said ripping off his clothes to show he was wearing a soccer uniform with a R on the front and said Rudy man in the back with a taco in the middle. "Perfect!" He said revealing himself to be Darkheart. "What are you doing here!!!" Rudy yelled. Goons began braking in and blocking everyone from leaving. "Here's the rules of the game, a 6 on 6 soccer match, for the title, pride and now the people of the convention!" Darkheart said laughing. "But I don't have 6 people" Rudy said. "Guess that means you lose by default". "Not so fast!" A man said. The man walked passed the goons and revealed himself to be non other then professional soccer player Donovan Romos! "Rudy man, it would be an honor to play with you" He said. "Likewise" Rudy said keeping cool while going crazy in his head. "I'll play, I'll play, I'll play" People began to say. In matter of seconds the whole Convention began asking to join. "I played for my home team seven years in a row, we got to state seven times" A man said who was a famous collage goalie named Douglas Garza. The rest of the team was filled in by the top player of the game, a collage rookie who Douglas recommend and finally a skilled soccer tricks men who was famous for his control of the ball. "An impressive team indeed but..... It can't stand up to us!" Lord darkheart said as him and his goons had some weird machine like enhancers on there legs. "Hey there cheating!" The crowd yelled. "What are you talking about? It's just my shin gaurd" Darkheart said. "I don't care what tricks you use....I'm still going..... To play soccer with your head!". The two teams and everyone else was taken to the soccer field that was conveniently placed out back. "Since we have no referees I took it upon myself to supply us" Darkheart said as a goon dressed as a ref blew the whistle. With that whistle the ball was in play and the game began. Lord darkheart and Rudy man fought for the ball with amazing speed and skill. "Your not this good, what have you done?!" Rudy asked. "Nothing much, just developed a technology that allows me to play at a professional level!" Darkheart said as he faked Rudy out and went passed him. "No you don't!" Donovan said slide tackling Darkheart. Darkheart jumped back and lost the ball. "Your up Rudy man!" Donovan yelled as he kicked the ball to Rudy. Rudy was about to get it but a goon slid in front of Rudy and stole the ball. With a mighty kick the ball went flying past Rudy and Donovan right to Douglas who stopped it with his shin. He flitched in pain by the power of the hit and saw his shin gaurd had been cracked. Before Douglas could do anything Darkheart dashed in front of him and kicked the ball in. As Douglas and the others looked in shock Darkheart laughed. "You fools can't complete against me, I'm far above your level". "Even if that were true you are missing one thing Darkheart!" Rudy yelled. "And what's that?" Darkheart said. Both Rudy and the rookie got on both sides and tried to steal the ball but Darkheart threw it up. Rudy smiled "we have heart". With those words the man with the powerful kick kicked the ball with all his force right into the goal. "You idiots do your job!" Darkheart yelled. The match became a fierce battle of Tech vs Teamwork as Darkheart tried his hardest to out do Rudy man but couldn't do it without help. "You have proven me wrong" He said. "But only slightly" he said turning a nob on the shin guard from 1 to 2. Darkheart took off in a blur as Douglas saw the ball coming and grabbed it with us hands. The ball's force threw him back into the net and he dropped the ball. Steam began to come out of the shin guards as Darkheart smiled "first one to three" he said. Rudy called a time out as he gave his team a chance to rest and think up a plan. Time soon resumed and Rudy put the plan into motion. As the ref blew the whistle The rookie and the Trickster ran to the other side of the field. Instead of attacking the ball Rudy got on the ground and did a sweep. The ball flew to his side where The power man cleared it to the other side. The Rookie then toped the ball off to the Trickster who juggled it around at amazing speed and out maneuvered the goalie. With the score now 2/2 Darkheart put his shin guards to max and was ready to play dirty. As soon as the whistle blew he kicked the ball purposely right into the goalie's face so hard it knocked him out. It didn't go in the goal and a time out was called. "He's out cold" The rookie said. "Hey that's not fair! Yeah give them a penalty shot!" The crowd yelled but the ref had no intent of listening. "Terribly sorry about that, but without a 6th person, I guess we win" Darkheart said. "Not yet!" Rudy said. "Give it up, do you really think any of these people want to play after seeing that happen. Rudy looked at the people and how scared they were. Rudy was ready to accept defeat until his spirit of the sport reached a young girl, no older then 16. "I'll do it!" She yelled. Everyone looked in awe as she walked down to the field with her uniform. "Rudy man I played for my soccer team my freshmen year but I can't handle something like this" she said. "Then why are you here?" Rudy asked. "I want to help you, I want you to win, your Rudy man, I can't let you lose to a cheater like him!" She said. Rudy smiled "what's your name?". "Alice" she said shyly. "Listen Alice, don't go overboard okay, if that ball is coming to fast just let it go, but I can guarantee right now, that he will never get a chance to even reach the goal" Rudy said. Rudy and her exchanged high fives as the final break was over. Rudy was ready to go all out and as that whistle blew he was only thinking soccer. The two began such a fast attack for the ball there feet were but a blur and the ball was no where to be seen. Darkheart finally got it and kicked it back for one of his goons to kick it to the side and then to the goal. Alice held her hands out ready but the rookie blocked it and sent it right back. This time the goons passed it back and forth until they got closer and passed it foward to another goon who slammed it down the center. Alice readied herself. But the power man screamed with all his might and threw it right back. The ball had so much force that the three goons together could barly stop it. The Trickster dashed around the field stealing the ball but he could never get close enough to do anything. "Enough playing!" Darkheart said taking the ball back and charged up an attack. "I've had enough!!!" He yelled hitting the ball so hard that it turned to fire. The ball raced passed everyone. Alice knew it was coming and knew her chances of stopping it were 0 but she had to try. She closed her eyes as she felt the ball get closer but this time Rudy man got in its way and was holding it back with his leg, its spin only increasing. "I told you to move didn't I?" Rudy said. Alice was speechless. "I also told you, that you won't have to worry!!!" Rudy yelled throwing it back. It's speed increasing even more. Darkheart's goons all got together and slammed it with all there might, breaking there shin guards. The ball was now nothing but a fire ball that could crush a cement block with ease. "Even if we break our legs.....we will fight!!!" Everyone said as they managed to slam it back once more, fracturing there legs. With only Darkheart left he forced all the power to this one final kick. The shin gaurd steamed like crazy before it was launched so hard the ball it self went through a sonic boom. "Darkheart you will not win! Rudy man special move!!!" Rudy yelled as he spun in a circle at amazing speed as the ball grew closer. "I'm going..... To play soccer with your head!!! Rudy special move!!!! Berserking Hyperion Brute Smashing Nucleo Mash Battler!!!" He yelled as he continued to spin until his foot came into contact with the ball and the force of just the air knocked Alice down and ripped the goal away. Rudy fired it back with such force the flames were now blue and three consecutive sonic booms went off, each one adding to the power and speed. Darkheart tried to use his gear but it was burned out. He used the last of its power and ran away until they broke and he was dashing at full speed. The goalie ducked for the ground and the ball ran right through the goal and toward Darkheart. He turned just in time for the ball to slam him in the stomach and launched him far, far away. The battle was long fought and the field was now in ruined but all the people cheered for there team and Rudy fell on the ground. His shin guards nothing but ash and a huge burn mark on his leg. Later that day Rudy was given many more items to add to his collection and even a special card that allows him to go to every convention free of charge. Before taking off he gave his Jersey to Alice, signed. He took off on his mower and smiled at all his new friends and fans. Alice looked at the Jersey and saw a note on it "you are a fearless girl with much potential, come by if you ever want any lessons, signed, Rudy man". Rudy got home to see Jorge still asleep in his nest "oh your such a lazy bird". He looked out the window and Alice did the same at her house reading the letter again. She smiled as her and Rudy said the same thing as they went to bed. "Best day ever".
